Beko Washing Machines

I have been repairing Beko Washing machines for several years and have noticed a fair few have blown the DC module. Replacing this cicuit board has fixed the problem (together with a PCB and Motor in case). However, I have tried to find out what this cct board is used for to no avail (even trawling the Beko technical website). It seems to be wired into the pressure switch and door lock, although with the work load in my company I am unable to take enough time to find out more. Does anybody know what purpose this board serves?

would need a sample model to be certain but a lot of dc modules are no more than an inductor and a bridge rectifier to supply the motor with DC

Why does the motor need DC? The motoors are normal motors with brushes on them.

Because its a DC motor.

I think DC motors are used as they are deemed to easier to speed control than AC type.

The Beko ones that you describe are problematic if there is poor brush contact, have tested them & found that they pop the DC board on ramping up the speed. Have put one on test & as it agitated clockwise & anti-clockwise it seemed o.k, but on increasing the voltage to motor it normally popped at that stage, further testing i’ve found that on the DC ones if there is excessive carbon dust on plastic brush holder they can short to frame. I have sometimes got away with cleaning the armature with comm stick & cleaning dust. Other times i’ve had to fit new motor & DC board.
Beko have moved to a Askoll brushless DC invertor type set-up on their new products which have a separate induction coil mounted at rear, these if failed usually no motor action.

So, I assume then that the Beko machines without a DC module dont use DC motors?

As a general rule yes, there are many different types of control used AC, DC, 3 phase invertor, tacho feedback, hall sensor feedback used not only by Beko but by most manufacturers.
Its important to order the correct part for the appliance in question, if you have access to Beko technical website as you said earlier, you will find lots of technical info for specific models on there and troubleshooting information, bulletins etc.
There is excellent troubleshooting guides, diagnostics,fault codes etc, photos of actual appliance showing you where to read resistances, voltages etc, pins of P.C.B and their imputs/outputs.
Excellent resource to be honest and except for the odd peculiar translation error its a lot better than other manufacturers give their engineers.

Hi there, my washing machine turns on and fills then stops, is there a way to find a fault code on it? It doesn’t spin or turn drum,many thanks mark.

as with most faults of this type check the brushes first ( if its a brush motor not sure without looking it up )

You probably need to try a new DC board (2817690101)
first..

Hi there, our Beko ECOWMB81445LW Machine broke down last week other half top the lid off and had a look and found the PCB board had burnt out it had tripped the sockets off on the house electricity board and sparked inside when I’d gone to turn it on. We then bought a PCB board off espares for £55 thinking this would fix it, fitted it all looking good set broken until pressed start same thing happened again sparked & burnt out! So…. now wondering should we just scrap machine or does anyone know how to fix this problem as we can’t afford to buy another PCB for it to go bang again. Other half is wondering if its the door locking mechanism or something it has to do first thats causing the problem. Thanks
