Same here. Have mentioned this before but if you slide a 13mm ring spanner over the pointy end of the suspension pin it pushes in the retaining tab just enough to release it without permanently deforming it. You can then just pull the pin out with pliers.

OK well I use just one bit of wire for the job………………If you want the part number just let me know. Sure makes it easier that bits of cable ties, old belts and packing straps etc.
Martin, that looks a bit dangerous to me. If one end of that wire slips off the screwdriver (or breaks at the loop crimp [?]) you could end up stabbing yourself with the screwdriver. I’ll stick with my cable tie and risk punching myself if my grip slips.

Well it’s held out for me for 20 years or more. It’s in fact a Zanussi recommended ‘special tool’for the job. But if you’re frightened at the prospect of wielding a screwdriver through those loops you could always use a socket driver I suppose. 😀

Cant see why anyone would struggle lifting the whole weight of the tub when laid down you are only pulling on the springs, access to all the hoses, wiring, pins and motor is much easier when it is laid down as well.
Perhaps mine and Martins approach goes some way to explaining how we have survived physically for so long in the trade, always make the job as easy as possible. 8)

Turn machine upside down. Rear cabinet and hoses off. Suspension pegs are easy to get at, once they are out let the drum fall back and the cabinet will follow. Once cabinet is still, the springs are easy to get at. Lift off the cabinet front chuck it behind you 😯 😯 .
I was shown this method when I (briefly) worked for a firm reconning machines :rolls: .
BTW Jim and Martins method all the way :wink:although I’ve never had a problem with the suspension pegs. Usually give them a waggle to find the straightest route through the leg and bracket(the peg will usually turn a little then) and push the pin in. Then pair of long nose 90 Deg ended pliers and pull the peg out using the angle end as a pivot. Lifting the tubs getting harder though, I’m removing more stuff off it now 😉

I use a heavy duty piece of nylon cord, slip it round the spring, sit on the floor and push with my feet against the cabinet/crosspiece whilst pulling on the cord.
All sounds a bit undignified to me. 😉 I mostly take the whole machine to the workshop for bearing jobs but sometimes there is a queue of machines in there so there would not be room to have the machine on its front. Also, with the Jetsystem models I leave the tub attached to its umbilical hose, I don’t know if that would reach if the machine was on its front.

I meant the Jetsystem hose that clips to the side and front of the cabinet before entering the top of the door seal. I leave it connected as it has a crimped hose clip at the door seal end but with it unclipped from the cabinet you can still place the tub behind the machine for further dismantling.

Nah!!…..Whip the clip off and chuck it in the bin then replace with a jubilee clip on reassembly. 8)

ParticipantI have found that a lot of the time the piece of clothing is stuck at the front of the drum just down from the door gasket. A good old coat hanger with a hook bent into the end fishes most things out.
