For about the last six months, every time I load up anything from UKW I get a big white box, roughly a third of the page, obliterating the middle ground for a second or two, then the page loads. Had it on other pc’s not linked to this one as well. Any ideas :con:

It’s the way Facebook links and the time it takes to load onto UKW. If they are running slow or slower than normal then you will get the “white box.” A pain I know but probably not a lot UKW can do.

It’s that bloody annoying Facebook crap, K won’t thank me for saying that but it makes the site a PITA to use most times. 😈
It’s worse on IE but still happens on Chrome, Safari etc and on all my devices.
A couple of days ago I got a large, thick dark blue line across the middle of the page, it had a small message from Facebook saying, ‘sorry, something has gone wrong’
I have a decent cable connection, god knows what the forum is like on slower speeds. :rolls:

Faster processor? My old Windows XP machine has all the above issues on UKW rendering it useless. My ‘other’ PC running Windows7 loads instantly as does my iPad. Conclusion being : Get a faster PC or switch to Apple. 😀

I don’t know if it makes a difference to performance but I have the social networks blocked on all web pages.
On this page I can see that Facebook Connect,Twitter Badge, Google+1,Linkedin,Google Analytics & Skimlinks want to track me.
This site is not bad but on some sites there can be dozens of companies tracking you.
One of the really annoying things that happens is when the same advert follows you around from one site to another which was why I put in the blocking software.

….but that wouldn’t explain why it still happens when, like me, you don’t even have a Facebook account Ally?

Get it on my iPad as well, not as bad but it still does it.
Logging out of FB makes no difference at all here.

It’s never happened to me.
I use Comodo Ice Dragon browser and also have Adblock installed, seems to stop any unwanted crap.

I am getting the same ,out in the sticks here on .5mb connection it sometimes takes 20 seconds load the page I want to look at.Then each time I change to a different part of the forum its the same again. I have have no twitter or face book accounts so its not my end that causes the problem.

Are you using Internet Explorer Washman? You will find it loads faster using Google Chrome.

Same problems here, takes ages to load & that’s with a reasonably fast connection.

I just thought it was UKW making money from pop up ads and my PC blocking them.
Nothing to do with Internet connection.
