Sorry Martin but the only tosh here is what you’re saying.
It is NOT mildew that you’re seeing, it is a bacteriological build up so this may remove the surface and improve the look of it but it isn’t solving the problem.
I am staggered that you think you know better than the many, many sources that will tell you this all of whom have carried out a tremendous amount of tests to find this out. Unbelievable.
I’m also a bit shocked to see that you’d fleece customers in this way.

Oh wow! that’s an interesting observation?

I merely state the DETTOX MILDEW REMOVER cleared the black gunge up – FACT! I am fully aware it is a bacterialogical problem we are dealing with here and surprising though it may seem Dettox clears it!

Puzzle no further on this dilemma as I readily admit that all I do know on the subject is what I have discovered myself by simple trial and error. No lab tests for me, but down to earth, on the case experimentation. It is surfactants that are the base cause of the problem. It is the user that operates the appliance incorrectly and doesn’t perform either a Service Wash or wipe the door seal…..I could go on ‘cos I’ve had detergent training that has helped me reach these conclusions anyway!

Now that is very below the belt Ken and I insist you explain your reasoning there please? Are we in a impartial discussion on the subject ready to here all sides, aspects and comments? Why should you direct such an obtuse comment in this way? Fleecing my customers indeed 👿
Sincerely

getting a bit of topic there arnt we would this not be more beneficial to just state what we know about the gunk and the ways in which each instance can be cleared also and thoughs we have to the cause

Martin, I may be reading what you wrote out of the context you intended it, but you do that a lot. 😉
Martin wrote:And I don’t believe in all this bull about using the correct powder as a way of preventing the build-up either (total tosh IMHO). Just wipe the flippin’ door seal after each use is the only way
Says to me that correct detergent use is a load of hooey and we shouldn’t bother to advise customers in this way and that you know better by just wiping the door seal to keep the machine clean. Blatently wrong IMO but that’s how it reads.
Martin wrote:Besides, I’d rather change a gunged up door seal then advise on how to keep it clean in future!
Speaks for itself. Says that you’d rather not advise on correct use or maintenance and get a call back to replace seals repeatedly. Again, not exactly what I consider ethical, especially from you and, again, I may be getting it out of context but that’s how it reads to me.

Blimey, it’s like Rocky v’s Clubber Laing in here.
I get the impression Martin and Ken don’t quite see eye to eye on a few things.
Is it not time to bury the hatchet fellas :argue:

KeymasterNa, Martin and I disgree on stuff all the time, it’s because he’s old and doddery. 😆
Seriously though Martin quite probably didn’t mean the post to be read in that way. Martin very often writes stuff with tongue placed firmly in cheek but others very often don’t “get it”. I’m just being pedantic and pointing out how it read to me.

Ahhhh, I see just spoiling for a fight then eh 😉
It’s a pity there’s no Nuclear repairmen around when you want one 😆

Ah, I have to agree with you there Ken, perhaps I would even admit to being a grumpy old git on many things at times 😆

Enigmatic engineering perhaps?

Oh! 😳 guilty as charged, I confess 😥 The “tongue in cheek” in this case over the Black Gunk was my candid use of the words “bull” and “tosh” I suspect? :stir:

Whatever gave you that idea I wonder? Ken and I are the best of mates on the best of terms. We agree to dissagree on the odd occasion, sure, that’s only natural when you bring together a broad shouldered entrepreneurial Scotsman and an attention seeking dodderer :tomato:
