ParticipantHi,
Sorry if this has been answered before – says more about my search skills than your forum!.
I have a Bosch WAE24162UK. Its started playing up by not draining, if I quickly opened the filter and flick the vanes with my pinky, a) its tarted to pump and b) my pinky started to bleed.
Anyway finally the Mrs started to bleat that it wasn’t spinning – replaced the pump and cleaned out the black octopus’s condom on the bottom of the machine that attaches to the pump, removed the plastic ball and thoroughly degunked it.
The machine now pumps fine, it washes but doesn’t spin when I put it on a wash cycle, as it started spin and then stopped.
Reading the excellent advice on your forum would seem to suggest this is a pressure switch/sensor related problem? How would I check that, what and where is it, and possibly did I miss cleaning it?

Is the drum turning during the wash, if so what size lad are you trying. If not turning at all then time to check motor brushes

Don’t put children in the drum in the hope they will spin, they won’t. The out of balance electronic detection circuit will immediately stop even attempting to spin. Rescue the young boy from the drum then try it empty instead . Will it spin now OK??? 😉

Thanks for the replies…
Empty, full load or half load – machine washes OK, drum turns & machine empties, but it doesn’t spin – it does try to but then gives up.
I don’t put my children in the washing machine, I find the microwave much better.

Do any of the LED’s flash when it doesn’t spin?

yes – I have a column of 5 led on the left and 4 on the right – Left column the top one (1200 spin speed) and right column the bootom (Spin)
The machine also bleeps 3 times every minute (I’m in computers and in my world the bleeping is a fault code – not sure of the machine simply does that to tell you its finished though)

The bottom LED on the right should be ‘End’ not ‘Spin’…..hmmmm confusing?

you’re absolutely right, my apologies I was reading it up side down, through a window and then taking a picture with my phone (utility room door locked – long story possibly entitled “carry on repair that washing machine”

So, looking at the LED’s once more can you say which ones were flashing?

1200 and End (top & bottom)

As far as I can recall that just indicates it’s come to the end of the cycle.
I would think the motors insulation is at fault and causing the electronics to abort the spin sequence. The motor needs testing with an insulation tester (aka Megger) .

Nope because you tell us it fills, washes, drains, fills, rinses and drains OK.
