BSH are quoting me £45.15 for this instantaneous water heater, good price I reckon. 😀

I can only speak for myself on this occasion but as far as I’m aware if you have a regular non-agency account with BSH they only discount all @ 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} off their retail, as in this case you’ll find.
Do also bear in mind I was quoting NET less discount ( but ex delivery/P&P and Vodka & Tonic). 😉

Does anyone actually repair dishwashers on site? ive just finished this dishwasher at my workshop and it took me three hours to do with the odd ciggie break… top off and lots of mess everywhere…
I’m gonna be taking them away from now on too… ive done a few boards and door locks etc in situ but as for elements etc i think im gonna be taking them away as a rule from now on.April 22, 2009 at 3:31 pm #283738LJDomestics

On another note.. im in the process of giving this d/w a test before it goes back to the customers house… every now and then just as the spray arms stop rotating ( from listening to it working ) the new element tends to give off a fart like noise for about 1 to 2 seconds…then spray arms start rotating again… only seems to be happening when the arms stop rotating… although its working fine… something inside the element housing?? as its definetly coming from there… had my head stuck right in there to make sure.
Just hope the customer aint gonna ring up about this… 😕

Yes indeed, it’s called a ‘water point motorised diverter valve’. A feature on many dishwashers these days. In the case of Bosch machines the top spray arm works for 55 secs and then there’s a 5 second changeover via the motor/gearbox that switches the valve to the bottom spray arm for 55 secs…..and so on…..

yeah just found that out by stripping down the duff one…
will this clear if i keep testing or is connect gonna have to swap this over?
seems a damn shame if its faulty from new.. 3 hours ive worked on this… not counting the 45 mins it took to get it out of the customers kitchen.April 22, 2009 at 4:20 pm #283741LJDomestics

I think you’re bound to do a more thorough job when bringing it back to the workshop. However, as we all know, work expands to fill the time available. If you had done this one in the customer’s kitchen, you’d not have worried about the minor noise and I doubt that they would, as long as it worked. Just tell ’em you need a nice bit of space to work in, and that they should keep out of the way so that you can give the work all your attention. If it’s sunny, drag the machine out to the back yard.

i know what u mean bud…. thing is..when i can if its a good hour or more job i prefer to take them away..then i can give them a dam good test after ( if its been a huge strip down job ) and i wont be governed by the odd shower! it gives me more peace of mind.. and by taking it away i can drop the job if the phone rings for a quick repair thats not too far away. 😆

another thing was.. i told my customer i would be ordering the part and it would arrive around mid day today…she rang at 1:30pm asking if i was on my way back.. LOL.. so i explained it wasnt a quick job..ive took lots of pics too throughout the repair..put em on disc and she can have the disc to see exactly what she got for her moneys worth… keeps em happy. 😛

Well, that’s interesting. I used to work a bit like that. Now, I don’t rush out for anything. If they want the job done pronto, pronto, I tell them I’m sorry but I don’t have any time till next Tuesday. They sometimes say they just can’t possibly wait until then so, if they sound really, really nice I say I just might be able to squeeze them in late Monday. If that’s no good, then I say I do hope they find someone who can sort it for them soon.
Or, if it’s a bloke or a sassy woman I remind her about checking the filter etc. or whatever else may be appropriate. They go away and do that and come back a couple of days later when I am more in the mood for some work.
