ParticipantBeen asked to look at a Bosch SPS5462gn/19, not heating. How awkward are domestic machines??? Finally found the element, element was fine, behind that I found what appears to be an override/ safety cut-off thermostat, open circuit, it’s black with 4 wires from it, clips into the top of the plastic housing that also accomodates the element. Is it the overheat cutout or just simply a normal temp. stat? Also saw something that looked like a microswitch next to the element going into the plastic casing, water probe? As you look at the element, directly on the left, rectangular in shape, wires coming from above. Didn’t want to fiddle too much, not sure how much abuse that plastic could take. Any words of wisdom would be much appreciated!! Are these parts pricey? Still available? I only ask this because I know commercial spares are terrible.

Hi
You could look for broken wires in the door loom near to where the door bends 😉Greg

The wires are fine there. I’d just like to know if the black, roundish stat is an overheat cut-off, or a normal temperature stat, with one side doing 50C and the other side doing 60C. Would also like to know what that other piece is, think it may be a one-shot overheat stat. Again, help would be welcomed.

It’s a pressure switch on the end of the heater box, acts as a safety in the event of the machine underfilling – a regular problem with these. Gegsy can give you chapter and verse on the subject……
GEGSY!
Try and keep it in one thread BTW, we always get there…….. 😀

Sorry, thought because so many people had seen the other thread, and I waffled on a bit people would bypass it!! So, the stat that clips into the top of the plastic housing the element is a normal stat, is there an overheat stat? I’m assuming seeing as it was open circuit when it was all off (and cold) it’s faulty, or does it make a circuit when it’s up to temp to advance the timer?

I thank you Mr P
I would still check the loom and check the pressure system isnt gunged up.
If you want to check that the microswitch on the heater is activating, disconnect the wires going to it and put your meter on “beep”, under normal re circ you should have a continuity beep thus indicating that the water level is sufficient and that the microswitch hasnt failed (never seen latter EVER) cough LOOM 😉Greg

So that stat SHOULD show an open circuit when it’s cold? (wires off, no continuity between connections). Bugger, machines I’ve worked on have stats closed circuit and open when it’s up to temp. Got caught out tonight.

Erm its not a stat its a microswitch, just works on pressure of water circulating ie not enough water no feed to heater. Stats are situated ontop of heater box.

I put in your first thread for you – static heat ’til temp – stat closes and re-starts timer 😀
Check wiring at the hinge pivot point and the retainer on left hand side of door.

So when it hits the right temperature it closes/ makes the circuit to advance the timer. Thing is, the cycle will finish without the dishwasher heating up at any part of the cycle. I’ll check the loom and microswitch tomorrow. My word, they don’t give you much room to play do they!!!

I’ve got one of these little tinkers doing the same.
Loom visually is A1, no knobbly bits or owt! There is a stat in the door adjacent to the timer, should that be n.c or n.o.
Heater ok and water level is fine but still no heat.I’m presuming now from the previous posts that all the stats are n.o.
Anyone got a connection chart or diagram for this one?TC

Have you tried the pcb in the consul panel. You might find a blown soldered joint.

This is a timer controlled machine. Door stat is 55c NO.

Bugger!!
I thought it might be:cry:
The kitchen just about fits round this thing and there’s no room for a workmate or owt.
I’d take this back to the workshop to do if it wasn’t town centre five floors up 👿TC

Checked it in the customers kitchen, all seems ok.
Calls me back next day no heat, so I decided to bring it back to the workshop and test everything through with a bit of space to work.
Stripped heater, sump, hoses the lot all test ok.
It went through like a dream on around ten cycles so I took it back and
charged for the time.
Get a call today, not heating again.
When I got there she’s got both the 65 degree and the rinse button pressed in. ‘Oh I use those two all the time’ :haier:I need a lie down 😥
