    Hi All

    So i moved a Bosch dishwasher SMS53M08GB/B3 Type SD6P1B Z-Nr:01086

Out of storage and despite it working perfectly before , its now showing E15 error , managed to clear it once but comes back so i assume theres a leak , gonna take the front off but wanted likely causes and cost before going to mad.

Heard a faulty inlet valve can cause this , given one failed recently and flooded a kitchen recently im starting to think im cursed with dishwashers 😉

I had to take up stairs on my own with a trolley so i think like a plumb iv cracked some plastic internally etc but again cant be sure

Anyone got any pointers to help as i hate to send this to skip for the sake of a seal etc
The dishwasher shows e15 after starting a cycle and just makes noises whilst showing e15.

    Thanks again for any input

take the sides off and run it

that way if there is a leak you will see it

have you checked for water in the base as when they leak you cant clear thr fault till you remove the water

    Hey Dave

I did tilt it and it worked but after 15 mins fault back again so I assume it’s a constant leak

checked rubbers and can’t see any issues

once I get front bottom panel off gonna look to see how much water is there and take it on.

any parts that are known to leak ?

hoping some epoxy can plug small weaps but let’s see ‍♂️

some are known to leak were the stainless tank top meets the plastic base ( if yours is a plastic base model )

Thanks Dave what is the remedy for this as I took bottom off and leak seemed to be coming from the back , is there hoses there ? I’m now certain I must have damaged it during transit ‍♂️‍♂️

I fully strip it next week and see what I can find

if the leak is on the joint between the metal and plastic there is no easy answer. you could try silicone but make sure its well cleaned before you apply

There’s a modification kit for most Bosch dishwashers to sort the leak between the metal and plastic.

The sump can also leak, sometimes tightening the screws under the filter will do it, sometimes the seal needs replacing.

Can also be main door seal, heatpump, inlet valve, drain hose.

As said above watch it run with the sides off, but bear in mind the sumps sometimes only leak at hotter temperatures.

Yep you probably are. so it`ll be you as only one more upon thousands in the same leaky boat. They are utter rubbish and severally over rated dishwashers though very popular. One of my customers had a similar model and she suggested I stayed at her place on a bed and breakfast basis due the number of times the pox ridden contraption went wrong . So when the last straw came she ditched it………………..and bought another Bosch. Yep, there`s no hope there!

Indeed Andy to be fair my last one lasted 6 years before the heat pump gave way and it just wasn’t worth the hassle and cost of the part , wish i did bother now as at least it didnt leak !

Any recommendations for a decent one thats not too pricey , cant be paying miele money ;). Perhaps a beko ??

Beko are not bad, lots of them around and if its integrated am fairly sure they still have a 2 year warranty

also look at Smeg. as they dont seem too baldly built

the Bosch and neff units further up the range have all metal wash compartments but still have the weak wash pump unfortunately

If you go for Bosch or Neff avoid the ones with the Polyinox bases as they have been known to cause problems.

As Dave has said the Beko are a good budget bet.

Have a look at Blomberg, basically a better Beko. Their integrated stuff has a 5 year warranty.

    Cheers guys

you guessed it , leaked between sump and metal

dried and sealed between them with some silicone , hopefully it does the trick if not it’s going over the balcony. Given the pitiful 2 screws I’m guessing vibration during transit didn’t help , so not sure how to safely move these things without causing issue.

I tend to buy used so will keep an eye for Bloomberg but prefer freestanding for ease of repair.

Will keep you posted on results

Well as guessed it didnt work , i would have thought a bead of sanitary silicone should have worked , is it imperative to use the rubber kit that im seeing online , i sealed from bottom of sump also the error popped up without the machine even being used or run , the machine was full of water when i moved it , is this normal ? I have a horrid feeling the pump has now gone as i cant understand why the machine was full of water as it hadn’t been run 🙁

Honestly fed up with the bugger but dont want all work to go to waste !

I did observe a water leak on the actual cold water connection which i tightened so if im lucky it could be that but it being full of water makes no sense to me other than a faulty inlet valve and pump gone bad.

To give context this is in a tenanted property so i can only visit once a week to sort out , any other tips before i throw the towel in.

Appreciate all help i can get.

you have to run it to make sure you know where the water is coming out of before you seal it

then use a hair dryer and paper towels to get it dry before you arr sealant

bosch do have the odd mod kit to try and stiffen the plastic to stop leaks but mostly seem to be for the right hand side only. there may be others but Bosch texh is hard to obtain
