Usually when a tenant is after another machine or something else they would be passing comments about the age of the machine and that it’s damaged the washing. They haven’t even hinted at this.
The door seal appears to be OK.

The older Hotpoint 95 series were always overheating and distorting the soap drawer, often to the point you couldn’t open or close the drawer properly.
Bosch machines often have thin wires on the NTC. With a heavy load, the drum movement could cause a poor connection if the wire was close to breaking. Testing it empty (if you did?) would remove the movement.
Also if the machine was overloaded, the clothes at the top would be out of the water for a lot of the time with the low level of water used on modern machines.
I would replace NTC and check wiring to it and heater one more time. After that, advise customer uses the machine but with caution???
The job would be no fun if all the jobs were easy! 😉October 5, 2012 at 9:11 am #382325Twoten

Wiring looks OK, it was initially test empty but has been used for at least 6 washes and not given any further problem.
If the information is correct about it happening within about 15 minutes then I doubt it would have been the NTC but I can’t guarantee it was that quick so I think the best option will be replace the NTC as suggested and see what happens.October 5, 2012 at 4:15 pm #382326jason1970

Did you find any cause for this?

I hadn’t posted an update on this as I have been in China for a couple of weeks.
I have checked with the customer and the machine has worked without any problems since my original visit (3 weeks ago)so I don’t know what the cause of this was.
I am going to replace the fascia, dispenser and NTC and see what happens in the future.
It is possible the damage could have been caused by an external heat source rather than a fault with the machine but there is no way of knowing, the tenant is hardly likely to admit to it.
