ParticipantHi All
Good forums, Ive been long overdue to join up.
Anyway I have a Bosch Logixx 8 machine which just recently has started presenting fully clean, but soaking wet clothes.
Obviously I check the filter and get my hand under to squeeze the sump rubber hose to see if its blocked but both seem fine.I noticed that when I select the spin function it will only get up to speed with a few items at a time i.e the weight might be an issue? It also flashes a ‘soap suds’ warning symbol on the screen when it is struggling – it will do these even when there are no suds whatsoever.
I then noticed that the suspension was bouncing all over the place so changed the plastic in the legs to these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353048415400 which has firmed it all up but didnt sort the problem. It does shake like hell now mind! – as if its not all lined up! Anyway by doing this I might have introduced a new problem?
I did a reset but no change.
Any suggestions welcome – I like the machine it has run well and deserves to be fixed and I can fix cars and so on so happy to dive in. I’m wondering what the flashing suds symbol means as I think its related.
Thanks

ParticipantYou most likely have a brushless motor, so I would visually inspect the motor controller PCB for anything burnt out first. Price up a new motor and controller board and try whichever is cheapest first – I would say PCB, personally.
I had a nearly similar model of your machine, WAS32466GB. Except mine had a brushed motor. But I loved that machine, so you can probably understand why I was reluctant to part with it, but part with it I did!

ParticipantThanks for your reply – this must be my first brushless motor!
I’ve done more investigating watching videos and prodding about and I think I have a bearing on the way out. There is no bearing noise to suggest it is bad but there is defo play when i place my hand in the door and lift the drum up – slight knocking. Without clothes it does a spin cycle but the drum does have slight orbital movement and I reckon this is because of the play in the bearing.
I reckon when it has clothes in, the movement is out of telorance due to the weight of the wet clothes so the machine safety does not allow a spin cycle and for some reason flashes the warning light – does this stack up to you guys?
So the main Q now is, does this machine accept new bearings?
Thanks

ParticipantThis link seems indicate that the outer tub splits in half. Not that I ever did it on mine, but I recall checking the outer tub on my Logixx 8 and I’m certain it was either bolted or clipped together (or even both), meaning it can be split apart with time and care.
I’ve seen it recommended to clean each side of the drum where the large rubber gasket sits, then apply a thin amount of clear silicone sealant on either side to ensure you don’t get any leaks. Of course this will make future bearing replacements more difficult, but you can’t win them all! You might be able to buy a new seal.
It does seem that your machine uses an inverter motor, which I understand to be brushless. I think it’s the generation of brushless motors used before the smaller motors used, such as this one in my machine now.

ParticipantApologies, I totally forgot to give you a link to the bear set sold by Bosch!

You might find them cheaper on eBay, but beware of third-party alternatives which might not be as good.

ParticipantThanks for your replies both – comparing the diagrams with my machine I think it does split apart well TBH which means I will defo be doing this bearing job, the motor and pcb can come after, depending on my success.
The genuine bearing sets are a bit expensive, so I will try to source some cheaper. I see the expensive sets come with screws which I wont need as i can reuse the old ones but my question now is what are all the o ring seals for – any ideas? It appears that cheaper sets dont have these which could be quite critical really.
Thanks

Moderatoryou need the screws as your tub uses plastic clips which you have to snap off then there are unused holes to put the screws in to hold it closed
you can get the seal kit with screws
https://www.bosch-home.co.uk/store/00640433you will need to find a new water seal and bearings from elsewhere

ParticipantOK so machine is in bits, old bearings out. I opened the front door this morning to find the new bearing set (bought from here) had arrived on the doorstep either overnight or very early morning so I will continue today. My questions now are
1. what is the tube of grease or liquid for?
2.The screws provided are longer and a different tapping thread – I’m guessing this is to provide a new ‘grip’ into the plastic when I screw them around the drum? To achieve a tight seal? Or have I simply got the wrong screws?
3.With the long seal – to add silicone or to not add silicone – what do you think? Thanks

Moderatorgrease is for the water seal for lubrication. fill the groove in the seal
as long as there is no damage to the seal groove then its unlikely to leak. I would not add silicon as its a last resort for me

ParticipantThank you electrofix – all back together with no drama. The big new screws were a pain though but its sealed tight as now – good idea Bosch. No play in the drum now.
However, I have one tiny problem which has scuppered the whole job – a wire broke from the tiny 3 pin connector on the top rear of the machine which goes into a small black plastic thing clipped to top of the machine and has a black rubber tube going down to the rear of machine where it adjoins what I describe as a white plastic dildo shaped item, which in turn is attached to the heater element . Please see pics – any ideas folks?
