ParticipantI have a Bosch SGV4313 intergrated dishwasher. Recently I have been getting more and more detergent residues left after a cycle. I have tried both Fairy ‘bags’ and Finish tablets, virtually a whole tablet is left in the bottom of the dishwasher. Could it be that the detergent compartment is not opening during the cycle?

The machine is probably underfilling. There is a short corrugated hose in the bottom front left corner of the machine which gradually fills up with goo and causes this.
Decor panel and door outer panel off, and lower cover panel needs to removed for access.
Power off, of course.

Thanks for the reply. I have interrupted a program and found plenty of water in the dishwasher, do you still think it could be underfilling?

Correct water level is near the top of the salt cap. If you open the door with it circulating, is there water spraying from the rotors?

Yes water is circulating from the rotors and I think the water level was near the height of the salt container.

Curious. The dispenser is a “side-action” release, so providing that it fully opens, there shouldn’t be an issue with the detergent dispensing. I can only suggest, based on your posts, that you check that the rotors (especially the tips) are absolutely clear of debris, allowing a full spray pattern.
Good luck,

ParticipantYou could try and eliminate dispenser probs by just placing the tablet in the base of the machine instead of the dispenser and see if you still have the residue left after a wash cycle.
Plus….is the water heating up ?

If I remember correctly, when I last used it I think the tablet fell to the bottom of the dishwasher as I opened the door. Let me get this right when you run a cycle it initially fills with water then the detergent is released from the dispenser into the dishwasher. How does this happen? I can see no mechanism for automatically releasing the sliding detergent compartment cover ?? The water is getting hot and from what I can tell the dishwasher is running ok

I will run another cycle and place the tablet at the bottom and see if this is ok. Thanks for your help by the way, much appreciated.

Hi
The dispenser workings are inside the door.

What programme are you running ?.
Cos if it’s heating, circ pump is running and the water levels are ok there is’nt much left that can cause the problem 😕 .

Ok much eating of humple pie. It turns out a new air freshener in the machine was blocking the tablet from dropping to the bottom of the machine…. what an idiot!! Many thanks for all your posts.

No worries, just make sure the dangly freshner is now not in the path of the top spray arm 😉 try spinning spray arm it by hand to make sure its clear; or you will end up with a poor top basket wash 😀

I would be cautious with these dangly airfresheners/deodorisers.
As you have found, they get in the way of the spray arm and/or dispenser flap.
I have also found that they impart their fragrances, particularly onto plastic utensils, such as food containers and chopping boards.
As such, I would not recommend any of them.

In that case they may not have the dishwasher washable logo on the base 😕
