Boschproblems
ParticipantI have a problem with my bosch wab28461gb washing machine, on several occasions I have found the machine has aborted the program with the clothes still warm and soapy. The led lights indicates a problem with the motor, on the test washs I did, on a normal 30c cotton with express selected everything went OK, no error codes and completed. But on the 60 cotton it appeared that the motor was suddenly starting to struggle with the load (half full of towels) and then when it would start it’s next tumble it would ramp up to fast causing the control board to cutout, after about a minute it would carry on as normal but after the fifth time it cancelled and drained and displayed the error code once again, any suggestions on what to do? ❓ P. S. I did a just the pressure switch about two months ago, as I thought the clothes weren’t getting rinsed with enough to water and because I thought the clothes would float and there would be less weight on the motor. Unfortunately now that I’ve put it back to the original position it looks like it doesn’t fill fast enough and drains out before all the clothes are wet but doesn’t display anything, could this be anything to do with it?

Okay so Martin will probably chime in on this and, probably echo what I’m about to say as harsh as it may seem…
What the hell are you doing messing with the pressure switch?
They do not and never need adjusted. Ever.
If you do that you seriously muck stuff up! You might think it’s back to where it was but, it won’t be. A fraction of a turn out and it’s toast. Which would also explain the symptoms you describe now.
And the logic in why you did that doesn’t stack up at all. If you add more water, you add more weight.
So, as you’ve messed with the pressure sensor all bets are off, it could do many a wack-a-doodle thing and there’s no baseline to go from meaning that, any diagnosis or help is at best a wild guess.
To even begin, replace the pressure sensor. Then go from there.
It was probably needing a set of carbons or something mundane like that but as you’ve messed about with the pressure sensor, other than physically checking the carbons, there’s no way to tell where the problem really lies.
If you’d asked before messing with the pressure sensor…
I know, it’s harsh but it is what it is.

I echo the thoughts of the previous speaker 😉

Good lord that was a fast reply, I know I shouldn’t have touched the pressure switch but I did, although I don’t think it would mess with anything as it doesn’t have any load sensors and fills to the same level regardless of the load , am I wrong in thinking this? The motor did start going wrong about two months after a bought it (2nd hand spare) but would only do it with heavy, bulky or full loads maybe more stress? I was going to replace the pressure switch anyway to make sure it wasn’t that but I’m looking at getting a new control board or motor after I look at the brushes

I’m not familiar with that particular machine but they all do the same basic things.
When it fills the water load will adjust dependant on the program selected and the volume of laundry in it as well as the absorption of water by the laundry load. So, it’s never the same twice unless it’s empty.
The water level you “see” may look the same but the actual volume usually will not be. Could be a lot, could be a little.
Therefore on modern machines if you mess with the pressure switch/sensor it usually ends badly. So much as a fraction of a millimetre out on it and it’s usually wrong. But, there should be no call to touch that ever as they are preset for that tank , sump, and all the rest.
And, it has zero effect on the ability of the motor to turn. Absolutely none whatsoever.
It sounds a motor related issue that you had or have.
I can’t see why you’d think the control module would be faulty, it wouldn’t generate the issue you’re seeing. Or at least, I’ve never heard that fault description ever being module related as if it were the board you’d expect no motor action and an error code or the machine halting and aborting the program.

We can find the strength of resolve to forgive you for that. 😉
Joking aside, the Pressure switch has nothing to do with your problem. Chances are it is either a connection issue, usually the motor plug block, or carbon dust shortng out the tacho generator. OR, worst still scenario, the tacho magnet on the motor armature is cracked. What is certain in my mind is that it isn’t a problem with the control module (circuit board). You will need to strip and clean that motor. Mark the way the stator fits so you reassemble the same way.
And promise me you won’t kick the cat if non of the above succeeds. 😆

Okay, thanks for narrowing it down for me 😀 . I’ll strip the motor down next Tuesday to have a look, nothing else can go wrong… hopefully 😳 this is the second bosch washer I’ve had in a year and typical that the motor had a problem and was causing the rcd to trip randomly, the company I bought it off said it was a well known problem with the model. And thanks for forgiving me, another reason for the pressure switch was because I could only choose rapid cycles which didn’t rinse to well, and I needed a quick solution. Hopefully I won’t have another problem with a bosch appliance as I’m sick of it 😡 😀

Rapid wash (aka Quick wash) is meant ONLY to refresh clothing and not to clean them. Clothing that is creased or has been stuck in a drawer over winter and smells fusty. That is what quick wash does with a tiny amount of detergent. It is not a quick way of cleaning your dirty weekly wash, it just won’t happen. The results of which you have experienced. Foam everywhere, not rinsed. You need to select a FULL wash cycle relative to the type of garment you intend to wash. Washing machines these days work on LOGIC and if the operator goes illogical the machine cannot compromise no matter how you may wish it so.

Oh no not a programme called quick wash, I know all about the topic going through all the forums 😀 . What I mean by quick wash is a normal cotton programme with fast selected not a half an hour refresh. Never believed in quick washes 🙂 . Have thought many people about their washing habits using cold water, quick wash etc and they wonder why their washer is black full of mould 😛 also I couldn’t use a full wash programme as it would abort because of the fault, as a matter of fact I have 4 washers so I only really used the bosch for light loads bedding etc .

Unfortunately I can’t seem to find a new pressure switch for my model (wab28061gb). I could find the brushes if I need them, but I can only find a genuine used one off ebay :con: what would you suggest?

You will need the other two digits from the ENR, it’ll be a “/” followed by two digits.
There’s multiple versions of it.

So I finally got around to replacing parts on my bosch… I only just found this forum again 😀 . I still have the same problem though, I’ve replaced the control board, motor, brushes (came with motor) and the pressure switch but I don’t understand what could still be causing the problem? Any suggestions?
