    Hi everybody,

my bosch wasnt draining properly so i removed the drain pipe and cleared it out (it was blocked) with hot water and a brush.

After I connected it all back again (that was the only pipe I touched), the drum doesnt fill with water!!! The hot and cold water pipes are fully connected and there is a good flow of water. When I run it on rinse the drum spins and then the burning smell of the rubber rubbing against the drum comes.
Also, the door doesnt open unless I open the drain filter at the front bottom of the machine and let the tiny bit of water flow out.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers all

    Hi
Do you have a full model number, usually around door inner.
The interlocks on these AFAIR are not dependant on water level so the draining of the filter makes no sense, as it should open after approx 2 mins after power off or end of prog 😕
What I would check is the plastic taps for the hot and cold. They have a tendancy to crack, but simulate turning making you think that the tap valve is open/closed, when it can be the opposite.
Way to check water feed to appliance is to remove hose/s from appliance and aim in bucket, then carefully switch on tap/s and see if you get any water 😀

Sounds like a blocked air chamber.

Its the clip on plastic chamber at the back of the tub just above the motor. Clean it out (clean the rubber grommet it fits to also), and give the machine another go…… 😉

    ok guys,

tried everything you suggested. the water seems to be back on but it still doesnt drain completely. the pre-wash light flashes 3 times at the end of the wash. during the ‘rinse’ period so I’m guessing its something to do with the pump.

Can anyone tell me where I can get a pump and any instructions on how to replace it?

    cheers

    Hi
    Pump is p/no 144487 – £48.00 +VAT etc and is available from spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk.
As for fitting, we cannot give exact instructions but what I would say is that you will need to remove the front panel to gain access.
Power off before of course :plug:

I will check out the pump.

I ran a full empty wash to see what would happen, and found it was skipping steps or not doing them correctly.

During the main wash (right at the start), no water is immediately taken into the drum – I can hear some clicking going on (assume it must be taking the detergent), then the drum just starts spinning with no water. When it gets to the rinse bit, it takes in water fine, so dont know whats going on there.

Its the same with the final spin. It just doesnt. But then the drum turns fine during the last gentle spinning stage.

Any ideas? Or time to get a new one?

    Hi
At the beginning of the wash it does a “self test” if you like.
It will lock the door, rotate the drum, pause then fill.
The clicking you can hear are the relays on the board which is normal at that time and during the wash.

If the drain hose was blocked with scum (product of hard water and detergent) the it will almost certainly be blocked further back in too.

The cure?….follow the drain hose connection back inside and clean the outlet hose from the pump/filter chamber, and the white plastic vent box it connects to….i suspect you’ll be amazed at just how much muck there is in there. The only way to clean the box sufficiently is to strip it out, get it in the sink and give it a good poke around inside with an old wire coat-hanger or similar.

Lastly, when you’ve got it all back together again, it would do no harm to run a proprietary descaling chemical through the machine 😉

Thanks clivejameson, I will have a go tonight.
This may seem like a stupid question, but how would I run a descaler throughout the whole machine?

    Hi
You would just empty contents of descaler into drum and use a hottish wash (60C) no pre wash selection and no washing in drum.
