I thought the WMA motor was a little awkward to get at but this Bosch is about the worst I have seen yet. I have managed to remove the brushes by lying the machine carefully on its back and with a bit of fiddling remove the worn brushes. Is this the ‘recommended’ way, and how do you get the motor off if you need to change it, surely you don’t have to remove the drum assy?
Spares question, is the Qualtex CAR 93 the same as the Bosch 154740 carbon brush ?

Ahhh, plastic tub!
It aint so bad. We just tip the machine back a little for access, but don’t tip it all the way onto it’s back.
There a whole thread on Bosch brushes somewhere.

No! No! tipping the machine on it’s back is not the way to do it. :lesson:
Tip it on it’s front, back panel off, undo the 2# 10mm bolts with a small 10mm 1/4inch drive socket and ratchet spanner. Drop the motor out and BINGO, easy access 😆
Easy job, 15 minutes on average to include multitasking lecture to your customer whilst doing the repair on soap powder technology. They will love you for it! 😀

I meant access is from underneath. I tip the machine slightly forward or backwards, depending on the kitchen, length of pipes etc.
Of course, I’m only little so I can crawl under the washer pretty easy. 😉

I should have said tilted right back, not laid flat. Still think motor bolt access it is an awful piece of design, if only someone would make a machine once again, on which the full back comes off. 😉 Its streching it a bit to call the pathectic little piece of metal on this Bosch a back panel, but once again no doubt the accountants are interfering. 😥

There is plenty of access though on this model even with the back off. (You will find – in due course- that the UKWasher has a similiarly small back panel, but yet offers enough access to do the job 😉

Are we talking about the same machine, this so called back panel is not much bigger than the pulley access panel on a Hotpoint WM machine, and the cabinet back has some very sharp edges.

Yes indeed! Enough to access the 2~ 10 mm hex screws and the pulleys as previously mentioned (mind though, the edges are unforgiving!)
Drop the motor out, saves all the contortions required otherwise 8)

Easy peasy one handed job.
tilt forward to about 45 degrees, use knee or any other part of the body to support.
remove bolts, prise away from mounts with flat blade screwy, catch motor with other hand. Bish bosh 10 mins later one changed motor.Wait til you see the new wfd motor!!!! :tdown:

Another way to get at those motor bolts is to drill two holes, in line with them, just big enough to get a quarter inch drive extension bar through.Fit your 10mm socket to the bar after passing it through the hole.
Use the customer’s own electric drill to save yourself the inconvenience of bringing your own.(The customer’s probably got a much better one than yours anyway and it’s hardly had any use ’cause he always calls in people like us to do the job).(If the hubby’s not there,get the woman to call him at work to find out where the drill is). You have to teach these people to buy machines with good access otherwise things’ll just get worse. 🙂Incidentally,overgrazing is a serious problem and you shouldn’t joke about it. 😆
