    What are the exact symptoms?

You set it off to wash and then tell us the sequence of events?

Considering you have changed almost everything connected with the heating circuit, there can really only be a break in the wiring loom somewhere or the module is in fact defective IMHO 😕
Also can you tell us is it a GB/01/05 or 07 😉

All appears fine, it does have a little digital display which shows remaining minutes but no flashing or error codes.

We have spent hours trying different programs, the drum stays stone cold, its driving us nuts as we have spent a few quid on new parts up to now.

I tested all the wires from the module to the water level sensor, to the heater, the thermostat and back to the module with a circuit tester and there are no breaks Im baffled.

    Hi
It may be worth you removing the module and looking for any poor solder joint/s around the relay pin/s, esp one feeding the heater.

    Power off of course :plug:

When we took it out a while ago it had a black sooty residue around it. At first we thought it had burnt out but it just wiped off

    Hi
Just look at the pcb carefully and see if you can spot any bad joints, they are usually pretty blatant 😉

We are getting close to pointing you towards repair@ as the fault doesnt appear to be a straightforward fix on here, sorry.

If the board is faulty, where would be the best place to buy one if it got to that stage, regards Steven
