The above dryer has had the same fault before (well symptom) and the Bosch service engineer merely pressed a reset switch. All has been ok for 7 months untilk now.

Please could someone advise on where this reset switch is located so I can try this before I call out an engineer.

    Thanks

There will be more to it than pressing the reset under the rear panel. The machine is basically an air pump – if the flow becomes restricted an overheat will result. Check vent hose is not kinked/trapped/fluffed-up, the through-the-wall ducting likewise. You should feel a good draught of air at the outlet duct.

Power off before removing any panel,

Ok thanks for the response. The air flow is good (just very cold). I checked the hose and all looks ok. It is only about two metres long and vents out of a fanlight window.

So the reset switch is behind the rear panel, yes?

    Thanks again.

    Hi Birds
Are you being naughty and stopping the drying cycle mid heat, removing clothes and leaving dryer without a 10 min cool down? Thats the most popular along with overloading.

    Greg,

This may have been the case initially – I do not know. My wife is the user.

If this can cause the fault to start with then we will take heed.

However now the heater is not working at all. It’s been out of order for a few days. The same as the original problem months ago.

    Thanks

As in hose thrown out of window? If there is no cowl on the end, the wind coming round the wrong way can effectively block the hose by blowing into the vent hose, thus tripping the safety stat under the rear cover…….

    Power off………

    Greg,

found the reset button, however using an ohm meter the element (disconnected) does not give a reading – so I assume this has gone.

I find this pretty poor for a 18mth old Bosch.

Did you press the button on the reset stat?

yes done that and there is conductivity through the switch when checked with a meter.

Ahh…Sorry, I read this too quick and thought that you meant the reset stat 🙄

I could tell you price for the element, but I need to check that you are sat down first 🙁

    Hi,
I would have thought that the dryer would still be under warranty from Bosch as they are guaranteed as far as I am aware for 2 years, assuming that you have still got the invoice.

    cheers

You are correct Clive (Hows your dryer after Dansta sorted it?)

If you have a current receipt for the appliance and is within the 2 years of purchase contact your nearest BSH engineer.
Im assuming your model is WTA4408GB/01 th n heater will be 492159 -£59.00 + VAT BSH pricing; if it is out of warranty.
FYI Ive changed a few under warranty .
