ParticipantHello,
I have a Candy Alise 105 washing machine and I would like to put new oil to drum’s ball bearing. I wonder if it is possible to do without removing the whole drum etc. by only removing the nut behind the machine in the middle of the part where the belt is going around. Is this a good idea to remove that nut at all? 🙂 Any possibilities that the machine would go into pieces? 🙂
Thanks,

You can’t lubricate the bearings without removing the whole drum I’m afraid.
If they are getting noisy, the only solution is to replace them, and on these models it is very time comsuming and (in my opinion) not an economically viable job to do.
The actual parts wouldn’t be expensive, around £20 for the bearing kit but the labour involved makes it a costly job.

I thought the bearings should be visible when I remove the part on the back where the belt is going around (what is it called?) Is there any chance that there could even be a little opening to squeze in some oil into the bearings? or it would be waste of time to try to remove it to see what is under?
What could happen worst if I remove that nut behind the part where the belt is going around to see what is under it? Would it be very difficult to screw it back? I have realized that the nut is quite tight in there. It didnt move at all when I tried to loosen it. But again, I can always use more force next time.
I am not willing to remove the whole drum in any case but I thought a slight lubrication might make the noise go away and lengthen the washing machine’s life.
Thanks,

Evren, please take my initial advice 😉
Lubricating the bearings even if you could access them wouldn’t make any difference at all.

Thanks, I will take your advice and wait patiently until the bearings expire 🙂 lets hope it wont be so soon…
By the way, do you have carbon brushes for this type machine? how much do they cost? how can I pay? and is it even possible to send them to finland? 🙂 When is it a good time to change them? I realized one of them had a little bit less than 1cm left… I wonder how long would it last?
Another question is about my recent experience with this machine. I just put the program on and it didnt turn the drum at all for half an hour. Next day the machine was working as it was working before. Turning the drum every few minutes. I wonder what might be the problem? (although I asked for the brushes, they probably cant be the problem since the centrifuge was working fine)
Thanks for the advices 🙂

ParticipantEvren,
Please don’t take this the wrong way, but your machine is on the way out. The noise on your machine is caused by the failure of the front bearing and its water seal. This is not accessible without demolishing the machine; lubricating the rear bearing (under the pulley) will do no good at all.The lack of motor action may be down to the brushes, or to a myriad of other possible causes – timer, electronics, heater circuit etc.
I would seriously recommend giving up at this point – a brush set will be £20-£25 and there are no guarantees that your problems will be solved.
Time for a new one.

Stripping down a Candy tub group is not a job for the DIY’r as Dave and Chris have already pointed out as you’ll need a lot of time (as a two-man job the fastest I ever did one was an hour) as well as chain-mail gloves if you don’t want to end up needing stitches for the gashes in your hands. I cannot stress enough that this is NOT a DIY repair, it reduces many an engineer to tears let alone the un-initiated to the joys of the job.
Also if they are still siliconing the backplate to the tub you’ll need a turbo-torch as well or you’ll wreck the outer tank trying to split it. This makes production easier, but repair an absolute bugger. 🙁
On the latter ones we were doing we’d have a tub group pre-built to swap the whole lot out as it was, at best, impractical to carry out the repair in the customer’s home.

OK, I gave up on ball bearings… But thanks a lot for all the replies…
But, as it seems the drum rotation problem was because of a cracked solder point on the timer. I have fixed it and now things work more smoothly.
I have one question though. This machine was left over here from the previous owner of the house and I dont know if it was ever turning the drum on both directions. Now it seems like it only turns one direction. Is this normal?
Another question would be if it is possible to find a document where it explains the speed control pcb connectors and its meanings. There is this board which has model number RV20 and I was just thinking that if I know where to tap in with a multimeter I might get more information about if it is actually working good or not.
Thanks,

Well, ok I now know that there is another fault in the program timer. The drum should revolve both ways when washing. Do you have this item in your shop? although I didnt see it in there…? How much does it cost?

Evren, as the bearings are failing do you really want to keep on trying to repair this appliance ?
I’ll need the product code to gain the spares info for you from inside the door , 3???????????
As a guide though, if this has a combined timer/control unit you are looking in excess of £100 for the part.
I honestly think as previously suggested it’s time to call it a day on this one.

Actually the sound from bearings is not so bad yet…
Other than the timer and the slight sound from bearings the machine works great. I guess it wouldnt hurt to check the price of the timer at least. No wonder the timer is so expensive. I got inside it and the switches on the PCB of the timer must have been put one by one since it seems like they do not get off unless you start removing from one end only. Couldnt be easy to assemble at first place…
There was one switch worn off It wasnt closing the contact between D1 and D3 thats why the machine turns only on one way. Although there was an unused plastic switch part inside the timer. I didnt dare to un-solder each part until the 3rd row 🙂 It looks like quite a work to do.
I have written down everything from behind the machine (there wasnt
anything inside the door) Also the timer is Crouzet Type 2000/2008/3163
as it says on its side. As you mentioned it has the timer on too.Elettrodomestici

I can’t find the model listed 😕
This isn’t the one with two shafts on the front with a dark green pcb and all the terminals on one side is it ?

I can submit a picture of it. Yes, 2 shafts on the front, 1 for the program selection the other for the dryer timer.
By the way, how do I submit a picture in this forum? 🙂

No need to send a picture, I know which one that is now, £129.54 plus VAT and carriage.
I’ll be guessing you won’t be wanting one 😉
