    Re: Comet Engineers

Comet recently secured Samsung contract and now are recruiting new engineers.

Give it 6 months and they`ll be all laid off once they realise the contract is rubbish.

    Re: Comet Engineers

First question do you or have you worked for Comet ???

Second point, the reason why our depot is hiring is not because of the Samsung contract but due to uplift in work and has been for the last 3-6 months.

Third the samsung modi takes 10 minutes so hardly worth hiring just for that if we all did 5 a day extra would only add about 1-1 1/2 hrs onto our day which we get paid for anyway.

Fourth you have no idea how much we are being paid and lastly it is worth it considering how many we have sold of just rs21’s.
    😀

    Re: Comet Engineers

I’ve been very quiet of late. Been busy, watching and stuff.

But, this really gets my goat. I’m going to get ladled into a few people here so, if you’re sensitive about criticism then please click away now. If you don’t have something sensible and constructive to add, shut up and don’t hit that “reply” button because, for every example you can prove a bit of this post wrong, I’ll give you ten to a hundred that does.

Somewhere there’s a thread I started on just this sort of thing, but I can’t seem to find it right now, something about the last engineer always being worse that you are. I hear it every day.

First off, why is it seen as a sport to slag off employed engineers? Do you think that there’s something wrong with them or what? Does one bad job make a bad company? Does one not-so-great engineer make a bad company?

    Get real.

If you employ any more than yourself you have the possibility of someone else being responsible for your reputation, simple fact. Employ only yourself, you only have yourself to blame.

And, if you think it’s easy managing a bunch of engineers, who invariably think that they’re all better than one another, try it before you gob off about how good or bad the engineers or management are.

Or is it that slagging them off will make them better? Make them go away and you get all the work? Again with the “get real”.

Or perhaps I am to think that there’s a whole buncha folks out there that wear halos and have feathered wings to get them to the next call, on time of course and repair perfectly. Once more, get real.

Comet engineers better than others, covering all the different brands, my heart bleeds. They took it on, the guys that do that work knew full well what they were walking into and, unbelievably, they’re not the only ones that face new products with bog all tech info or training, DAILY! So you can get real as well.

That goes for BG, Miele, BSH, Indesit and whoever else too.

I hear about them making mistakes.

I equally, maybe more, hear of indies making mistakes as well. I see it daily in some of the service call sheets I get back for ISE let alone my own stuff. Some of it is shockingly bad, not only the paperwork but the total and utter lack of thought and simple common sense. Sometimes I think it’s a bunch of robots that aren’t capable of thinking for themselves and, if you can’t think for yourself and diagnose correctly, simply and logically, maybe you should be doing something else where you get told exactly what to do.

But basically, you’re all wrong to slag each other off and, IMO, are acting like children. Please grow up and try to help one another, not have a pop whenever the opportunity presents itself.

We’re all in the sh1t every day. We all face new challenges, every day. Many of the issues we ALL face are virtually the same as to make no difference.

Now, can we please play nice and have conversations like adults please?

I hope not to see any more engineers slagging off other engineers, but I won’t hold my breath on that happening. :rolls:

    Re: Comet Engineers

It wasn’t a wind up. I didn’t create a new topic but my orginal post had a small amount of relevance to the original thread. Only in my experience that particular engineer was costing me too much money in un-required parts on a fixed fee contract (it was a good payer if done properly) I probably didn’t explain that very well, if that way of working was common with comet engineers then it would be costing comet a lot more in parts costs than neccessary and could be a major contributor to any financial problems comet may have on their service side of the business.
It wasn’t a direct pop at all comet engineers. Apologies to those 6 who were offended

    thanks ken

    spot on

no one engineer is better than anyone else, everyone has failings, some are better at some things than others

the thing we all are is human, we should all work together to try and make it easier in that god awful, difficult world thats out there – and thats why i made a point of it

ive never sl4gged off any engineer on here, because i understand…. i just feel its unnecesary to dish it out, when i know im not perfect

or, as the good bible says

‘let he who is without sin cast the first stone’

every point ken made is bang on, whether it offends or not

can we all just get on now?

    Re: Comet Engineers

WOW! I’m an ex Comet engineer too! I suggest you interview your applicants more thoroughly Dan…? Finding out 3 Months after recruiting that someone is incapable of carrying out safety check is to be blunt, pretty poor man management!

When I had my interview at Comet a few years ago now, I not only had an interview, but a written assesment, within that assesment were questions about safety checks.

As per your comment about ‘part fitters’, a lot of fully capable employed or self employed engineers might ‘throw parts’ at a machine, because of fear of recalls!

WOW this thread has got me on one! Can I just say for the record… Employed engineers are just as good & capable as self employed IMO… I know I’ve rang a Hotpoint engineer once or twice for info! Only difference between Self employed engineers & employed engineers are bills! End of.

Apologies for the rant… Just didn’t like the thread!

    Ade 🙂

Well guys and gals, what can I say I have learned one thing on here already! your all in fact Human, If we were all in a pub some of us would be oggling the woman with the big tits while some of us would be laughing at the guy with the ridiculous dress sense…LOL Bitchin’ is apart of our lives. So come on poeple get a grip We can all be great at what we do most of the time, and then we all can have one of them days!

In this world of spurious branding Would’nt it it be better remonstrating about manufacturers lack of tech help to us! after all we’re the ones on the front line, I know that would make me happier on a daily basis.

Correct – this mildly unfortunate thread is not the one to do it in, though.
