    Re: Comin through !!

2004 VW Passat Sport Auto, all the toys etc. Less than 20k on the clock.

This afternoon driving along, Landrover was let out of a gateway by a dithering old fool in a Primera. Girl behind him in a Clio stopped, I stopped, Mondeo behind me stopped after nudging my rear end. I expected superficial damage, less than 10 seconds later, Picasso rammed the Mondeo which ended up totalled both ends, air bags were deployed in the Mondeo after the second impact. Picasso a write off, mine driveable. Police had a field day with the driver of the Picasso.

Doesn’t look a lot, but… Rear doors dragging on wheel arches, whole of floor of boot creased up, spare wheel jammed into the well at the bottom. Roof line affected and dropped down behind the rear quarterlights. Whole of rear end dropped by 10mm. Suggested will be a write off.

Thats the one problem with all the crumple zones etc in modern cars, you are safe but it doesn’t half cost to repair. I was in a two week old Volvo V70 estate some years back, a young lad in his dads Renault 7 decided he wanted to reduce it to a Renault 5 and hit me doing around 40 mph whilst I was stationary at a bypass access road. I didn’t feel a thing but the cost of repair was almost £5,000 and after that was done I found that I couldn’t adjust the drivers seat, turns out the impact had caused the seat frame to bend. 😯

    Absolutely !!
I’m okay just a very stiff neck and no van stock for the duration of the repair
