Yes we have 2 pc’s one the first one i bought had windows xp already up and running and came with xp disc unopened and untouched? so who ever has installed it i presume they have used the key of this disc.
so i see your point if i try to put this disc into our new machine running vista it might reject it, and how do they now if i disc is used on multiple pc’s? i take it information is sent and logged over the netto microsoft?

I really wouldn’t worry about it. XP Keys are used multiple times by hundreds and thousands of people. There are millions of the damn things floating around on the net, plus there are a number of key generators that will make a legitimate one up on the spot.
I’m not advocating that you do anything illegal, all I’m saying is that nothing is likely to happen if you do use the same key twice accidentally.Microsoft could possibly de-activate your PC for using an existing key, but in reality the chances are pretty close to zero.

Thanks guys for the help π
I have finally gone for the Mesh, http://tinyurl.com/2ff9lt
with xp pro, better the devil you know!
I am quite impressed with the system so far, it has only hung twice, switch off and then back on and it’s back into lifeThe speed of this system is blinding, I am sure it knows what I am going to do before I do, bit like the wife really π
One dislike is a black keyboard π I suppose someone thought it cool to design it in black but my old eyes ain’t what they used to be and I now have to have a lamp to see what I am typing πMarch 10, 2008 at 8:29 pm #243168trusted

I managed to get to the bottom of why the link URL wouldn’t work. It was my firewall software at fault.
As to Dave Sharples I can’t say I have come accross that name in the Fylde area.
Best regards,

Just thought I would give an update and a word of warning about MESH πΏ
As previously mentioned my nice new Mesh started to hang on a regular basis along with one of the cd drives going berserk.
Several contacts with Mesh technical resulted in me breaking the security seal and opening up the PC and sorting out the problem with the cd drive, loose data plug π₯This still did not sort the “hanging” and eventually I bit the bullet and decided to telephone Mesh Tech. (previous contacts were via email) due to their high charge phone number. Getting through to them takes an average of 15 mins. πΏ
I was advised to use the “recovery” disk to repair Windows. This resulted in a complete lock out of the windows system never to be seen again.
More phone calls to Mesh tech. and was advised it must be a software problem and was given another phone number, which I rang. I was greeted with an far eastern accent who’s first comments were “this line is costing you a pound a min. do you want to carry on with the call?”
Β£15 later the guy advised me that it was a hardware problem and that I should contact the tech. dept again. π₯
On doing so they advised that they would collect the PC and repair it back at base, so much for the on-site maintenance.PC came back two weeks later after I was advised that it would be returned within seven days πΏ total out of commission time, just under a month, (it was a good job that I still have the old PC.)
It had been fitted with a new hard disk and main board, which I can only presume was faulty from new! I did notice when I took the side of the PC that the hard drive had paint damage around one of the unused fixing holes π―
The PC now seems to be working better than it ever did although I had to re-plug the cd drive in again. All in all I feel ripped off, Mesh seem to be a marketing company who happen to make computers. I believe that I was supplied with a PC with either used/faulty or re-furbished components.
It has cost me and my business a small fortune to get resolved, their after sales seems geared around how much they can make out of the punters when their PC’s fail, not customer satisfaction.
In my true grumpiness I will be contacting MESHβs MD π
My advice, STAY CLEAR OF MESH

I am abit surprized to hear that as my brother uses his for computer programming, both windows and linux never had a single fault and its 3- years old. β β
If you think they are bad try pcworld, I bought my one some 4-5 years ago and paid Β£1200 for it including a 5 year warranty.
Gave me nothing but trouble from within 6 weeks only help I got was to keep formatting the hard drive and this was the tech. people / store manager.
In the end give it to my nephew and built one – alot easier than you think. Took me about 1/2 hr only pain was installing windows and all the updates etc but I have very few problems. π
