    Hey, watch it, you!

It’s all very well having a long list of suppliers in various parts of the country but no-one seriously has the time to consult them all for every part required and then there’s the variation in carriage costs to factor in and whether a carriage free threshold can be reached. That last factor is why Connect still get the majority of my large saddle-bag refill orders.
Google “shopping” is your friend in all this. One search gets you a good overview of the current best deal available to all. Then you can quickly compare it with two or three of your preferred wholesalers open and logged in in adjoining tabs. If you’re looking for a fan element or a bearing, don’t forget to check out ebay, especially, “spares4appliances” = Masterpart retail site – sometimes cheaper than trade as we know. Qualtex also have an ebay site IIRC, though I can’t recall its name.

My father in law runs a vacuum sales and repair business in a very well known coal mining town. We were chatting about business, it cropped up the conversation that my prices for spares from the supplier is a lot lower than his.

He was very surprised that he can get two clutches for the dyson for a mere £6. He says he pays at least £18 from the same supplier.

One day we will get together and compare prices on-line and see if there are differences. I can see pounds signs… Me selling him spares cheaper than his suppliers….I joked with him that he can ring me with the parts number and I will get it sent to him and of course I shall take a slice of the transaction.
