just under the text box that you enter your post into is a tab labelled ‘Upload attachment’ click on that and then browse your PC for the files you wish to upload. 😉
My sister in law has a Hotpoint model which is the same as this, I cannot see any reference to drum speeds in any manuals so I will check hers when I get a chance.

Hi Jim
Appreciate it.
I have never had to check this before, first time for everything.Looking at the shafts, it doesn’t look much different but I am sure the ratio must me such that the drum rotates to fast.
The dryer is mine now but its going to bug me
Oh, and as I have paid for the motor its cost meThanks

It all seems rather odd, a simple induction motor with no electronic control should run at a set speed dependent on how many poles the motor has should it not?

Yes , thats my point Jim..
It is a simple induction motor, set poles so speed is set with the mains frequency. But trust me the speed the drum rotates at is way to fast. With clothes not tumbling. They stick to drum?
I have been in touch with Masterpart but the tech guy said that this motor is correct and to be fair, all other suppliers have this as the correct motor.
Going to try and get the exact speed of the drum rotation on Monday.
Might even video it

looking at new shaft there is quite a difference.if rpm on both shafts are the same i would think new shaft will add up to 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} to drum speed.as iadom says it has to be motor as i doubt if theres anything built into mechanics of m/c to regulate motor.

I haven,t said the motor is faulty, I. Have an open mind ATM. Personally I don’t think there is enough difference in the size of the shaft to make any real increase in speed so noticeable.

sorry Jim could have worded last post a little better, what i meant to imply was that ratio of new motor shaft was different to old one and not faulty manufacture.

Stick a pair of ball race bearings in the old motor and that will solve everything. 8)

I did a job this morning on a washer and the customer had one of these so I checked it out. It was around 70 rpm.
Hoover used to calculate 85rpm as plaster speed, at Hotpoint we used to set it to 88rpm.

Will try selling it as a cheep machine as its in near perfect condition, might get money back for motor.
Lost this one but customer for life.

Result.
Plus you have a spare motor that will no doubt be OK for a full size dryer. 8)
The real problem with the small 3kg dryers is people trying to stuff the full load from the washer in them. They are usually quite a reliable little machine TBH.
