Didn’t fill me with confidence when the landlord said they’d get their handyman to sort it. Oh well will see when I go back to try and repair washing machine

What a mess though. And to think that the electrical industry is snorkeling in regulations and law and training….. and yet this still happens. So all the regulation in the world won’t stop human beings being stupid. (think there’s another thread around here banging on about that……. 😉 )Steve.
Your confused.
This is why you need all the above.
Save time asking all the head scratching questions.:D

Don’t think I’ve ever been confused Lee…..except when reading your posts. They always leave me scratching my head as you offer nothing over and above your usual mantra (which has been tried and talked about in this trade for the longest time) and offer no solutions to those questions (that everyone already knows the answer to, or nobody asked in the first place). So, in that vein, yeah…I’m dead confused at what the f you are trying to say but never actually get round to saying…..
You really need to learn to respect that other folk in this trade are as well versed as you say you are (in some cases way more so) so if you care as much as you remonstrate why don’t you actually step up and do that something that you tell everyone needs doing so urgently to ‘put the world to rights’.
Probably because it’s so much easier to type it than to do it.Steve.

Hi Steve,
I read threads on this forum quite a lot and I cant understand any of Lee8’s posts either.
My advice is to go into your control panel and add lee8 as a “foe”, this way when your reading a thread his post will not be visible.
Whenever I had press the button to show his post I always wish I hadn’t bothered as its complete nonsense.

Some of my posts contain information not for general public/industry and its likely to confuse people not involved. The ones that can manage hard equations rather than adding 2 & 2 together may well understand it. Others l guess dont, l make no apology for that, if it does irritate then yes ignore me, im more than happy for any member to remain in the dark.

The one common factor in ALL your posts though is that none of them are helpful, informative or relevant.

I arrived on UK whitegoods and certain ego’s took offence to comments l made, seems being vocal in a different direction causes those ego’s some discomfort.
I’ve written many times that my written words are not my best asset and l’ve been vocal about idiots within our industry and there inabilities.
My work has taken me in a direction that involves assessing these idiots, maybe a few have been members here and l’ve touched a nerve. Others seem to have taken it as me being some kinda ego that needs reeling in. I make no apology for mockin idiots within our industry, promoting training, regulation etc etc.

Your “work” gets everyone’s back up to a degree in which your ego could never ever have possibly envisaged. You referring fellow trade members as “idiots” only furthers our resentment toward your inane dialogue. Steve (aqualectric) sums up you to a tee, his words echo my sentiments.

It usually only gets the backs up of the people who do these things.
I never ever once stated all white goods engineers are idiots. :rolls:
I have, such as Andy here, given examples of the poor work. I may have answered a few people’s technical questions, l use the term technical loosely as some of them should have a basic knowledge of the work they plan to do.
I see no difference in you posting your helpful instructions on how to use a megger and me mocking people who call themselves engineers not knowing how to use one, after all under the Health & Safety act 1974 people carrying out work should be competent and work in a safe manner. Being unable to even understand basic electrical principles seems to be common within our industry, hell the instructions you posted on here can be found within the operating instructions of even the cheapest megger.
No, I make no apologise for p88ss off people, to be honest, if their that set against improving our industry or sensitive to my comments for that matter, I’d rather they block me, saves me having to tell them to p99s off. 😆

Lee8 does sound a lot like my brother who unfriended me from Facebook. He’s a Electrician by trade with 20 years experience and 6 years of college before that. He thinks he has the answer to the world problems but his own despite having an autistic son which he refused to acknowledge the condition.
He took a disliking that I spent two weeks training to be a domestic appliance engineer, two days to be qualified PAT tester.
At the end of the day, if people do a good job and proved they are capable and willing to learn then those people should be encouraged rather than put down.

It’s all down to ‘attitude’ and delivery, there are many more subtle ways to voice disquiet, criticise or voice ones opinions.
Calling people names, being downright rude or aggressive is no way to get a point across.
In spite of what some people think there is no one in the world who knows everything. 😉
To put it into a football context it’s the difference between say Paulo Di Canio and Sir Bobby Robson.
One loud mouthed, aggressive, opinionated, widely disliked and ultimately a failure , the other quietly spoken, thoughtful, universally well loved and very successful.
If you have a valid point to make you have more chance of people listening to you and carrying them with you if are not rude, blowing your own trumpet and generally conveying the impression that you are a real know it all smart arse, than if you address them as equals and treat them with respect. 8)
