ParticipantHi, i have read through the forums, and have a slightly diferent problem.
The pump will drain at the stat of a programme but will then just make a very quiet humm noise. It doesnt then recirculate any water. No fault codes shown.
Any ideas? ❓
PS – water is in sump as normal, no gunk in filters.

Two pumps – drain and circulation. Drain pump should stop, water run in, circulation pump should start. Which bit isn’t happening?

If your machine still has the original circulation pump in it (see this article: http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ge&pid=159 ) you may be in trouble. It could just be jammed by a blockage if you’re lucky.
The new type pump can still be blocked, but may also suffer from failure of the start/run capacitor fitted to it.
Power off if you plan to get underneath it and investigate.

thanks for that, will a blockage be fairly obvious to see and easy to clear?

No.

You’ll almost certainly have to pull the pump and split it. Easy on the early pump (twist fit), awkward on the new style one. Be careful to treat the hose clips gently, as they can be very tricky to refit.

RIGHT – I have enthusiasticaly taken the bottom off, then got stuck! i take it the pump in question is the big one to the right (looking at the bottom with it on its back facing up) with two hoses coming off it. The hose clips look tamper proof, i.e, i dont know how to get them off!

Part of the clip will be sticking out looking a bit like a mushroom. Using a flat bladed screwdriver, you need to open the legs of the mushroom. Not by much and they will release the pump. You’ll need to crimp them again on refitting. Which pump unit have you got in there?

Yup, that’s the original one as featured in the article. It will come apart with a twist though, once it’s off.

Well, it,s out, apart and cleaned, just trying to get it back together, i assume it just twists back together – easier said than done! is there a knack or specific way it goes back?

While the front cover is off – turn the impellor. It should move freely, then resist and go “ping” every quarter turn. If it feels stiff or gratey, it isn’t going to run.
The scallop on the inner housing should line up with the outlet tube for re-assembly.

ParticipantIMPELLOR? is that the spindle thing with a magnet around it? If so, the magnet is cracked along it’s entire length?
It spins freely but no click.
