ParticipantHi,
I was using my diplomat electric oven and it suddenly stopped working. Checked consumer board for trip and fuse. All was ok. Called a electrician who checked power was going to cooker again all ok.
Timer has gone off and haven’t a clue what it could be. Also its stopped the ignition to gas hob if that helps. Had the oven for 5 years and can’t really afford new one at current moment. Any clues what part I might need to order.
Thanks

Sorry I’m not familiar with that oven but is the gas hob part of the oven or a separate unit fitted to the counter top?

Hi the gas hob is seperate from the electric oven.
If i have to bite the bullet and buy a new one, can i use my existing gas hob with another oven?

I would think the fault is with the power supply not the hob or oven.
Check to see where the oven is plugged in to see if there is mains power to it.
You may have a hidden switch in one of your kitchen units that may have been turned off by accident.
This is the most likely fault as you have a problem with 2 appliances.
Or you may have a fuse blown in a mains isolation switch.
The oven you have is unlikely to be at fault.
But if it has a fault it would only be a thermal cut out.

I bet this oven is plugged in with a plug top, check the fuse in it

Hi Bob,
Electrician came and check power to switch in cupboard, checked fuse and pulled oven out and confirmed there was power going to oven.
Mains consumer unit was also on and not tripped out.
Is a thermal cut out easy to fix? Do I need a electrician or cooker specialist?
Thanks

Easy to replace but you will need an appliance engineer to test and repair
Spares are available from the WTA shop or AWS for Trade or Hygena Diplomat Spares online for retail.

That wouldn’t explain why power to the gas hob has also gone out though? (assuming of course they failed simultaneously that is?)

I would doubt that the electricians diagnosis is correct, the power suddenly stops to both the oven and hob, get an appliance engineer to inspect, they will find the fault

Hi, you seem to be ignoring my posts, this will be my last bit of help for you, dont order a thermal cutout as this will not fix your oven and hob, please get an engineer out to correctly diagnose the fault with your oven and hob.

Listed as thermal switch but you need to test them first to see if this is the fault.
2 fitted on this model.
HO19314 and HO19315 on Higena Diplomat Store
But to have 2 appliances at fault this still points to a mains supply fault
It is best to call an appliance engineer to test them. You will need a Gas Safe engineer for the Hob.
