worrying thing is customer said there dc07 worked fine the day before but not picking up. now its gone up in flames ?
still not shure what to tell the customer about his cleaner.
dyson dont want to know due to the cleaner being over 5 years old 😯
worrying thing is this cleaner actualy went up in flames and we hadto chuck kettle of water over it after throwing it out of the shop.
imagine if that was in somebodys house ?July 26, 2006 at 11:00 am #183101Goatboy

The DC07 have a cheap disposable motor in them 🙁
They overheat alot because the bin assy gets blocked up, in the top where it can’t be split.
It sounds like the cut-out on the motor hasn’t worked 😕 and the things overheated to the point of the motor setting on fire?
All IMHO of course :hide:

ParticipantRe: Dyson DC07 FIRE!
most things made these days are disposable.
i shall be breaking into the hoover at a later date to inspect the motor to see if it had some kind of cut out.
the dc07 was blocked and did need filters and cyclone unit was blocked too. i clean out cyclones with compressed air havent had one beat me yet. “until now”
anyway the cleaner in question was cleaned out new filters cleaned out cyclone unit and ran from cold. not even on a carpet but on the shop tiled floor 😯 so no strain at all on the motor. but still it decides to go bang and up in flames with no time to dive for the plug. hadto chuck the cleaner out of shop unplug then throw water over it.July 26, 2006 at 1:31 pm #183103Goatboy
ParticipantJust a very dodgey motor then? 😕

gave details to dyson and they said by the serial number its 5 years old and they cannot do anything but to try and claim on customers insurance.
