ParticipantHi, I was given a Electrolus ESL624 dishwasher on freecycle recently.
It was caked in calcium so I gave it a good clean. The only problem is that it leaks from the bottom corners of the door.
My guess is that a seal is deffective – only which one. The seal at the bottom of the door looks to be in good condition, but seems to be a few mm short at each side. The main seal on the unit seems to be in good condition also , but it does seem to be quite long – i.e there is a couple of cm extra rubber that extends from the left and right hand bottom sides of the washer. I am not sure if these are meant to be there or not.
I looked to see if the door hinge was adjustable, but it does not seem to be.
Any ideas please?
Thanks v.much

sounds like the door seals are fine and rarely cause problems if clean and visually look fine. the cause is more likely to be over filling (high water level). this is usually caused by being blocked in the pressure system. this job can be a bit more involved and dismantling required. if you attempt to have a look, unplug first.

Thanks,
The water level does not appear too high.I took off the “fitted-in” door and you can see that water appears behind thebottom seal – which is not suprising as it seems to be designed to do this with its two cutouts towards the center.
I’ll check the pressure anyway – I have already cleaned out everything I could – what should I be looking for – a blockage in a pipe perhaps, or is there a float mechanism?
Cheers for your help

Does anybody have hints on checking the pressure system please?
Many thanks

Or a faulty/split lower wash arm?

Thanks Simon – the stainless steel lower arm looks good with no visible splits.

if the water level is ok as you mentioned then the fault will not be in the pressure system. best left alone at this point and try to find another reason.

Thanks very much, I have taken the appliance door off and it seems that water gets into the channel at the back via the 2 cutouts in the bottom runner seal, and also water that drips down from the sides into the same area.
This area seems to potentially be the cause of the leak as it does fill up a fair bit even though the water level inside the machine appears to be OK.
Any suggestions? – Is this normal? The cutouts in the rubber seal are there for a reason, but seem perhaps to be the cause….
Thanks again

the holes in the seal are there to allow any trapped water to run back into the the main tray.

ParticipantAI see – in this case they seem to let water in to the back – perhaps the water level is too high after all !

ParticipantNo it doesn’t seem to be foaming.

ParticipantOK – I have tried a couple of things. I reduced the rear hight to tilt it back to see if it made a difference – it did not make any difference so I do not think the water level is too high. I have noticed that on Rinse and hold it never ever leaks, but it only leaks on a wash cycle after about 10 minutes.
The water level seems OK – when I open it mid cycle it sems to be well away from the front door once it has settled down.

ParticipantI am thinking that the water must be getting past the seal somewhere – but which seal.
My guess is it is the main seal rather than the bottom one, but I am uncertain whether the bottom seal should be the full width of the appliance door – it seems to be a few mm short each side.
Any comments on this, or the level that the water should be at?
Cheers
