can anyone help my hotpont ultima DWF60 seems to be knackered. It keeps coming up with an F code.I have moved machine to see if pipes where being crushed by washing machine next to it but that okay.It has rinse aid, salt etc.I have cleaned fliter and washer arms all dont make a bit of difference. Does anyone know what the code might be?? I have 4 kids so NEED my dishwasher as poor thing is on twice a day. 😆
phoned hotpoint and got some snotty kids who says that they dont have an F code listed and as my machine is 3 years old I need their engenier to fix it. 😡 i dont think ! probably cheaper buying new one as I found out when my old washing machine broke.
can anyone PLEASE help?many many thanks

I am not sure how you could tell it was a ‘snotty kid’ over the phone but the information was basically correct. There is no F code as such on these machines. It is actually a Bosch made machine and I suspect is rather more than 3 years old. A spurious display message such as F could indicate a module failure.
If you are certain that the machine is under 5 years old, you are covered by the manufacturers five year parts guarantee. you would get all the parts and only have to pay the £90 ish labour charge. You will not get a machine of this quality for under £300 so it would make very good ecomomic sense to have it repaired.

Participantthanks jim
the machine is 3/4 years old. It was bought in middle 2003.what I meant by snotty kid was he was quite rude on the phone, didnt ask me for any details and just said no cant help without asking any more datils such as how old is machine etc. when I have had dealing in the past they ask for your details first and are rather more polite than the young guy on the phone. will have to get in touch for 5 year parts guarentee.

Humming noise could be caused by a blockage, have you checked that the water supply is turned on and that there is water coming out of the fill hose? . The error codes should be 0 through to 10 plus 16 , Is it just F or F4. No fill should eventually come up as F4.
The module is rather expensive on these so do make use of your five year cover.

Participantthanks for information
I know when the machine was bought as it was a family one that was never used as they always away and we inherated it. i know the water supply is on as the washing machine next to it works okay. its still just an F that comes up with no number for some reason. this is a real silly question where would i find fill hose?does that run into out pipe for sink?many thanks again

You’ve already pulled the machine out to check to see if the pipes were kinked?
The fill hose is the thin black one, the drain is the grey corrugated hose. 😉
You dishwasher likely as not has an internal fault preventing it from filling I would think, especially as you are getting an odd error message?

Participantwill endever to check the pipes again but think it must be internal.there doesnt seem to be any sound of water running when its switched on,it just hums like when its drying.for some reason just isnt filling with water.

Are you sure it’s not filling? The humming could be a jammed wash motor. Open the door 3 mins after starting the machine and check to see if there is anything at the bottom, not forgetting water is clear and therefore feeling for it will be easier.

Most internal repairs are quite difficult on this machine, not a DIY job, involves a major strip down including removal of the whole of the inner tub. You really should take advantage of your five year parts cover, this machine is a decent quality machine, too good to start messing around with. If the main motor is faulty it will be covered by the guarantee.

Make sure that water is coming out of the fill hose, sometimes the plastic ‘tap’, usually the blue bit, will turn but because it is broken inside the tap is not actually turning on.
