KeymasterWe may as well get it started.
What do you all want to do and where do you want to do it? (Clean comments only if you please ;))
I know it’s a big effort for all but I did get the sense that, while a more relaxed meet might be in order for Feb, that we may well be pushing the space available at Sibson.
However, I also thought that it might be an idea to move this one a bit further North so that we can perhaps have some of the more Northern guys able to attend a bit more easily.
The suggestion was made that we hold a meet in or around Glasgow as well which I’m obviously up for. In fact, I’d be tempted to go somewhere like The Lodge for that and make a weekend of it.
It’s all open for discussion though but I do think we ought to start thinking about it now.

I would have thought that the better position for maximum attendance would have been Manchester, Liverpool, or Chester… The thinking behind this is that the southern members and the northern members have roughly the same distance to travel.

Could I ask you to consider the following, Im not bothered about where we meet at all but if anything was noted at this last meeting it was that the number of manufacturers was really down. It stands to reason that the majority of them are busy running up to Xmas and less so in February. Overall numbers were about the same as the last big meeting but this could be because of the expected bun fight and the new ISE machine. If we could get a greater number of engineers, wps, spares suppliers and manufacturers perhaps we could increase the numbers.

Followed that link and it has the dates as 23rd to 25th Feb. Surely it should be 24th (Thu) to 26th ( Sat) ?
Also got this message when I clicked on the book now button after entering the correct dates.
Please note that the group rate you requested is unavailable. Available rates are displayed below. 😥

This could have just been a “bump”.
A “bump” on forums or mailing lists is a way to bring topics that seem dead or inactive back to life again. Sometimes it’s the kiss of life, others it’s the kiss of death.
I’ll take my chances…
February meeting.
Obviously it’s usually the one that we all put a bit of effort into (not that we don’t with any others) and there’s obviously a couple of subjects to be having a yap about.
As usual we’ll try to entertain some, hack others off and just plain annoy some by poking them in the eye. It’s the way it is, has been and, probably always will be as it’s sorta a tradition now. My general feeling is that, if we don’t annoy someone, we’re not doing something we should be.
All in all though, it’ll be the usual… with a twist…. as usual.
You see, the TA folk I often don’t give them the full skinny on just what I or John are going to actually present. I have this thing about keeping something back, just for these events, because I do like to go at things from a little left of field. To let people know what you’re doing, well, that’s just plain dull.
This time round, we’ve already got about four or five major topics to get our teeth into. Then we have the OFT review thingybob going on.
The open floor should be entertaining let’s just say.

How much should the rooms be please? I get the “Please note that the group rate you requested is unavailable. Available rates are displayed below” and a big list of room prices and options. Is there a preferential rate we should be getting?
