ParticipantI am looking for fill hoses to fit a Whirlpool top loader (American style), been on Connect-distribution, they want 50 quid each 😯
Anybody know where I can get some at a bit more realistic price? or is there a fitting available to convert them to use standard fill hoses? Thanks

Standard hoses will go on without cross threading, just needs a bit of force first time on.
I have fitted lots with no problems.

😀 That’s the sort of answer I was looking for.
Cheers Steve, I’ll give it a go.

Not a brilliant idea TBH and risky from the outset as the angle cut of the thread between BSP and NST is 5 degrees. Now that doesn’t sound much but will incur cross-threading to some degree. In time, especially if the water pressure is upwards of 2 bar it will give way at some point in time. 🙁
Best make sure your PL Insurance is up to date first if you choose to force a standard BSP hose on, most of which are sub standard for starters. 😉

😥 You’re right Martin, it’s not like I’m going to be able to take the rest of the week off with the money from this job, and I certainly don’t need any sh*t to deal with.
So it looks like they are going to have to cough up for the money for the proper hoses. Can’t help thinking that there has to be a conversion kit available somewhere. 🙁April 20, 2010 at 7:40 pm #318295EFS

Wouldn’t worry me in the least to fit a quality 3/4 BSP fitting pipe to one of these.
They go on so tight that they won’t come off at any pressure.
I have fitted dozens of them with no problem. If you want genuine hoses they only cost $10 on US mail order sites so might be worth the shipping charges.

There’s an adaptor – Johnmac11 has posted the part number several times.

The adaptor comes with new appliances in the hose pack but I have never saw one being sold seperately but looking at SIOS I see a “adaptor US-EU” listed as part number 481931039637this might be it. The Whirlpool price for this part is approx £28 :rolls:
You will need the adaptor and the US fill hose to get this one going but IIRC they both come in the fill hose bag. On SIOS the cold fill hose is listed at approx £20.

😳 not yet, customer has family in USA and was going to try and get some sent over, but I haven’t heard from her to say that she got it sorted.
How much do you want for yours? I’ll check it out with her. 🙂

quite suprised .January 12, 2011 at 1:03 pm #318304abbots
ParticipantRe: Fill Hoses ?!? American top loader
so, let me just make sure i get this right,
to make a standard UK BSP fill hose fit you need to get an adapter for it and a genuine fill hose?
or will the UK fill hose fit direct on to the adapter?
sorry for being a bit dim but want to get this sorted for the weekend if possible.
thanks.
