Participantthis morning we got a ‘fill fault’ (watertap with no entry icon) while washing our top drawer…
then a little later the same happened for the bottom drawer..
I emptied cleaned etc…
after a while the bottom drawer started working again, but the top one exits after approx 2 minutes with ‘fill fault’ it more or less sounds like it gets no water, but if I take out the drawer, i can feel theres plenty of pressure on the water tube?
any good ideas are appreciated…
kind regards

ive managed to get hold of the service manual…
after running hw check it is clear that the problem is getting water _in_
it just drizzles ever so slightly..
another question what is the brown stuff in the image?

UNPLUGGED? double check.
that is the resin that filters the hardness out of thwe water, the brine solution then regularly back washes it so it is always able to clean incoming water.
Does the HW mean you have it plumbed into hot water, check your instructions, nearly all DW’s should be on cold fill, you may therefore not have sufficient pressure or you could have the filter blocked on the mains supply, take supply pipe off and check for residue and remember UNPLUG first .
Service manuals are designed for folks with knowledge ie engineers so be very careful in what you attempt, keep well within your limits.

*thanks for replying
yes I unplugged it before taking off the plate, but obviously the hardware check can only be run when the unit is plugged in 😉
it is and has always been attached to cold water.
‘filter blocked on mains supply’ … the bottom drawer works, so it is something that only affects the top drawer..

Don’t know the maachine well but there is likely an inlet valve for each draw or some means of diverting the fill, check on the manual as regards the water supply ie valves for each draw, doesn’t it give a discription of the fill system?

Hopefully someone with more familiarity of this machine will read this.May 10, 2009 at 11:53 pm #286159kurgan
Participantthat is my conclusion too, theres two valves located at the base of the machine, right where the inlet splits in two..
so the most probable thing is that the one for the top drawer is busted, I assume it is this part:

Ok i tried running the inlet valve test in the diagnostics/hardware-test mode..
the inlet below becomes pressurized as soon as I turn on water inlet, so the problem/blockage must be beyond this point (the inlet valve is before this point!)

You could also have a mechanical blockage in the valve.ie it appears to open as far as the electrics are concerned but mechanically it isn’t opening the valve enough to allow sufficient or any flow. You could remove that pipe and fit an extension so it drains into the sink or outlet pipe and test for pressure. The next item in the line is the water matrix which houses the resin that you see, that would be expensive but they don’t block causing restrictions normally, would fancy the valve being faulty myself, unless incorrect salt has been used.
Switch OFF first as always.May 11, 2009 at 9:56 pm #286162jwd_73

Nice pictures
it would appear from description the water softener is blocked.
If you run the FU (should be FV )in diagnostics does the water trickle into the drawer from the small round hole or under the dispenser?
Be careful not to run the valve for longer than a couple of secs max as the hose will split.May 12, 2009 at 5:11 am #286163kurgan
ParticipantRe: Fisher & Paykel dd603h ‘fill fault’
yes it trickles in

ParticipantRe: Fisher & Paykel dd603h ‘fill fault’
is there a suggested way to ‘unblock’ it?

ParticipantRe: Fisher & Paykel dd603h ‘fill fault’
nope we change them out when blocked as it is a sealed unit.

Last time I checked Kiwi appliance rescue sell them at around £64 each.
as for other dishdrawers they are all made by Fisher and Paykel. -
