I’m looking at a chart produced by ‘National Geographic’ which covers the last 400,000 years in which time we have had 4 ice ages caused by the wobble of the earth away from the sun.After each ice age there has been a rise in temperature as the earth moved nearer the sun, crucially closely followed by a rise in CO2 levels(up to 300 parts per million).However this time the graph shows that the CO2(now up to 380 parts per million) increase precedes the temperature increase – so now we are in uncharted territory and this is where the dispute arises.
Talking to a geologist the other day and I asked him about all of this and he said the jury is still out on climate change but if that doesnt get us lack of natural resources would.So if youre still driving a 4litre 4×4 and sticking your fingers in your ears and saying ‘la la la’ whenever environmental concerns are mentioned you deserve a (green) asbo.

Full explanation of the data adjstments here – needed to ensure apples are compared with apples when weather stations moved. Nothing sinister I would suggest.

That graph that Coleman was using is the same one I was looking at but with a crucial difference the Co2 is in avery light blue and the temp in red so you could hardly see that the Co2 levels had gone off the scale.Trying to cover it up methinks.On an empirical level,having climbed and walked in the Alps for the past 30years the shrinkage of the glaciers is phenomenal,sometimes up to a mile and 200m of ice have disappeared-thats a lot of ice.This year I was in the Pyrenees and the glaciers are nearly nonexistent.I think the people in these mountains believe in climate change.

Bit of a heavy article to wade through but sheds good light on the inconsistent and unreliable computer/scientifically based predictions.
If it gets to heavy go to the conclusion !The basics of it is that, regardless of opinion or conclusion, there is doubt over the readings and methodologies.

My own view is that the climatic changes that various regions are experiencing are part of the planets weather system albeit one that is based on thousands of years of weather. Detailed weather records go back about 93 years as we know them, or at least the ones that the met office and BBC refer to. Other than that its geologists, marine scientists and the like that can determine what the weather of planet earth was like 60’000 years ago. Those records show that the earth has undergone a multitude of weather spread right across the globe and as such the weather window that we glimpse through is not sufficient to form a certain opinion that the planet is about to enter some catastrophic period from which we will not return. One thing is for certain that as far as the UK goverment is concerned climate change is a financial gift and means to extract ever greater amounts of cash from its citizens, coupled with scare tactics people are like sheep following all the daily trivia that the media put out. On top of all of this I will never understand how a little island like the UK has so much emphasis in adopting all the green policies when nearly all the other countries are consuming power at ever greater rates
but we seem to be the ones suffering most at the greedy goverment who plainly see that by saying they are Green is justification to extract these amounts from us.
