    Well if the comet “engineers” are all as helpful and clever as you , then I think the OP was wise to give them a wide berth

    so as an ‘engineer’ you’d be happy to strip one of the worst machines in the world down, buy parts, refit em and hope its ok? or just ring comet and get it done free, or even exchanged?

    over 13 months old washing machine had 12 months guarantee.
