gandh1 wrote:ok as its a bit of a bandwagon thread, seriously CONSIDER whether you need a b/u d/o…
total capacity for both ovens only slightly outweighs a single, the main benefit obviously being control of 2 temperature zones in one carcass space.
fact is the main oven on any b/u d/o is tiny, and rarely has enough height to comfortably accomodate a christmas turkey.
as well as this, obviously unit preparation will add to teh total cost of incorporating a b/u d/o, especially if its a case of a 60×60 single oven to a b/u d/o and if there is only a 13a feed for the original oven…
and again other than the advantage of having the hob separate to the oven, in case something major goes wrong with one or the other, there is no contest between a hob+b/u d/o vs freestanding d/o cooker… f/s d/o wins hands down 🙂
Based on the oven capacity problem, when goggling for large capacity bu ovens, came across this brand, any info regarding them?

KeymasterI would advise that you do not consider Prochef.
They’ve been bust a few times, parts are impossible and the last I heard (a couple of months ago) they’d gone bust… again! I don’t know how reliable that is but I can tell you that they don’t exactly hold a high standing in many quarters of the industry.
What state the business is in now I don’t know.

After taking on board what “gandh1″posted re the oven capacity problem of b/u d/o, is the Siemens option I quoted @ 45L big enough to handle the Christmas turkey?
If not, as there are hardly any B/U S/O out there and I cant use a FS Cooker, are there any conversion kits for using a B/I S/O under a worktop?
Again apologies for all the Q’s!

I reckon you would get a 20lb turkey in the large oven and the veg in the top oven.

I think gandh may have confused you a little 😉
There are three sizes of built in oven of which two would apply in this instance. Single built in which goes into a housing waist height and up or can be built under the worktop measuring 60cm wide an 60cm high. There are loads of these on the market with varying functions and colours.
The other is the double built under the worktop which is 72cm high. Not so many of these available as they are a low volume seller, most good suppliers will carry a couple.
If you go for a single under the worktop you may need to carry out some joinery work to raise the oven up.
HTH 🙂

Cheers. I’m easily confused 😳
Starting to make sense, looks like I can save money going for a B/I S/O as long as I allow for some joinery work and living with having the grill as part of the oven (not really an issue as I have a LG Solardom M/W)
Thanks for your help Don 8)

I’d go with the Rangemaster personally. Also remember to leave lots of ventilation for the hob, it’ll need it. I normally say to people to try as best they can not to put an oven under an induction hob as, in my experience, it’s one of the primary reason that you get trouble with an induction hob.

How reliable are the Rangemaster ovens, I know they don’t have as many PCB’s etc to go wrong as the Siemens, but I’m worried that a 1 year warranty doesn’t exactly scream confidence from the manufacturer
????? ALL Rangemaster kitchen appliances come with a 2 year warranty as standard, these built under ovens are pretty sweet too.November 17, 2010 at 9:53 am #335557strocky

It’s either a typo or as they’re maybe not official Rangemaster stockists, they can only offer a shop warranty?
❓

One year dealer warranty, second year warranty direct with manufacturers as long as product is registered with Rangemaster within thirty days of delivery.

DonThough you are correct in what you say Rangemaster dont enforce that, they will still give you the second year even if you didnt register.

DonIt is most definitely the case, its not really a mockery as they would prefer you to register, but you will get 2 years either way.

Finally got it down to a choice of 3 models -:
Neff B15E54N0GBNeff B15P42NOGB
Siemens HB75AB550B
They are all roughly the same money, some have one feature that the other one does’nt and vice versa, which one would the learned gentlemen on here recommend & why?Regards Strocky!

All from the same group of companies, it just comes down to preference of functions and appearance. All models will come with the standard BSH two year warranty.
