Henry vacuum cleaners are they good,bad or indifferent

Good in the main.

Not so brill on pile carpet I find, but for most other things they’re very good, especially the likes of office type use.

They are very good especially in a commercial environment. I worked for a year to supplement my income for Northumbrian Water’s Exploration Associates and they had them. (10yrs ago) They were very good at picking up dried in mud from the Geology Labs. – The Turbo Brush is available as an extra accessory & that used to be powered, I am sure if memory serves me correctly there was a little pin do-dah at the back of Henry that it plugged into. – Of course the new ones maybe air powered driven, I don’t know, you would need to check. – Genuine bags were expensive from Nu-matic, but Viking Direct used to sell a cheaper generic, which was just as good.

Very good are Henry vacuums. Ours cleans our carpets very well and better than the vax cyclone could ever do. And on hard floors it is good too. Bless it, it has been bashed and banged about on several ocassions and has even fell down the stairs a few times, none of which have seemed to affect its performance or durability. Very easy to push too, and cable auto-rewind is helpful too.

I am beginning to think I should keep my mouth shut! 🙁
My Vax Cadence has given up the ghost this am & although it is under warranty, I just can’t be bothered with Vax’s Customer Service (or should that be dis-service?) Line anymore It only cost me £9 anyway, so I can afford the loss.

I have ordered on my Viking Account a Henry Extra which will be here in the morning, so you can’t say I don’t put my money where my mouth is!!! Even if it is some 9-10yrs since I last used a Henry.

Let us hope I am not disappointed, as everything these days is changed spec & not always for the better.

Such is life, I suppose.

PS My hubby is still quite poorly, I was up at Renal Clinic yesterday with him & we have to go again on Fri.

Hi Adam,

Thanks for your wishes. It’s a bit scary at the moment because the creatine levels are rising as well as the urea. – Me thinks that dialysis will come sooner rather than later. We keep our fingers crossed that the levels will drop a little.

I am afraid I politely disagree! 🙂 As I first stated I used them years ago at Northumbrian Water where I cleaned the Geology labs for pin money & they were very good, especially after the young lads had been out in the fields, coming back with their muddy boots on, all over the back office carpets.

Over the years, I have makes from Dyson, Vax, Leccy Lux, JMB, Miele, Dirt Devil, Onn (Asda’s own make) & all have promised so much & delivered bot all! Indeed, after yet another dismal failure with a so-called Cyclonic Bagless, I have bought a Henry Extra last week from Viking-Direct and have been delighted with its performance. My rather elderly dog is a cross Alsatian Whippet & her hair is like needles & sticks to anything & everyone!. Henry with the Turbo brush has gone straight in there, and picked up her hair, & judging from the bag, it is full of her wool.
I also much prefer the improved features of being able to switch the motor down to a less powerful suction, when cleaning the laminate.

What? Like WQ said, Henry certainly doesn’t lack suction. I even tried this. I vacuumed up with Henry, he was about half-full, and then vacummed all around the house again with an empty VAX cyclonic, of which is supposed to be uber ‘powerful’. After emptying the Vax, there was only a bit of fluff and a few hairs inside it.

Proof if proof were needed then that the Vax sucks up more then the Henry. 😉

Thanks for that Adam, to go all around your house vacuuming up twice is a tough act to beat and we very much appreciate the trouble you went to just to let us know. 😀

Actually Martin, the Henry picked more up than the Vax , the carpets were looking quite bad, and there was only a few bits of fluff that the Vax had managed to pick up after using the Henry.
I certainly do not work for Which, I was comparing as a consumer. 😉

Yeah I know, I was only pulling your leg. 😉

Henry’s are just great, tough as old boots too, even the modern ones which is saying something. My local pub landlord has had a Henry (if you’ll pardon the expression? 😉 ) to clear his open firegrate of woodash every morning, 7 months of the year for the last 20 years to my certain knowledge. 🙂

A while back he asked me if I could give it a good service 😯 , but I told him in no uncertain terms, he’d got the wrong guy 😈 :rotl:

Thanks, although I did this a while ago, to prove to my parents to get a new vac, not a cyclonic one. The Henry now is used by my dad, and will be friends with sawdust and all that sort of stuff.
