I did another cycle this avo again with a failed spin cycle/pulsing for 2 rpm then stopping. When you listen to the wash controlling knob you can hear it cycling through the wash cycle by a number of clicks from behind the control knob.
The clicks corresponded to the pulsing of the motor in the spin cycle. I would have expected the clicks to correspond to the wash cycle not the failing spin cycle, this sounds very much like a feedback loop to me, with something stopping the motor from spinning….hmm.
Is there anything that can over ride the spin cycle in a wash preventing it from spinning?January 27, 2013 at 7:31 pm #388198Martin

I sympathise with your frustration over this and sadly from our remote location the difficulties trying to assist is equally so. I’m still pointing the figure of suspicion on the motor though. One thing we in the trade would do firstly is to carry out a 500 DCv insulation test on that motor, AND likewise test the whole machine and its components for potential earth leakage.
Motors and heating elements are notorious for causing this sort of problem and such a test meter makes short work of isolating the fault. I wouldn’t mind betting that motor has an earth insulation leak.
On the subject of the ‘motorised selector switch’ you referred to as clicking. They can indeed be a caution and I cannot rule that out entirely in this instance. That switch is cheap and easy to replace if only to rule it out of the equation. So perhaps that could be your next move AFTER you’ve been able to check that earth insulation this is!

Thanks for the feedback M, much appreciated. I have a standard multi meter but I don’t have the equipment to test 500dcv.
TBH, if it’s looking like a new motor at £100+ I’m quite likely to get a new machine, I was just hoping it might be something cheaper as I’d prefer to fix than join the throw away society 😆January 28, 2013 at 8:20 pm #388200Vossy1

I ran another 2 cycles tonight, a daily 44 minute and a daily 29, both span fine
So that’s 3 cycles fine, main 4 hour cycle faulty, 90 degree cycle completely dead (doesn’t even light up on selection) and spin cycle faulty…oh fgs :rolls: 😆

Stick a new Selector Switch (motorised timer) and chances are that will sort the missing progs.

Just a quick up date, I replaced the selector switch/motorized timer and I did indeed get the 90 deg wash cycle back. The motor is still not spinning at the full 1500RPM on the main wash, though it does on others as previously discussed.
Thanks for all your help 8)February 9, 2013 at 8:58 am #388203Martin
