Oh I see, and if there was a component with a code 41013142 should I see what effect changing this would have?

Well said that man I second that. Give it up mate & call an Engineer your just going around in circles, you still didn’t tell me how you came to the assumption that the sensors were within spec???

Many thanks for the concern on the costs lads, its good to see things like that in these forums. I am not too worried by the costs and I’ll give you a bit of background to the machine and it may help.
I saw it outside a house on my travels, and on returning 8 hours later it was still there. It looked newish, so I knocked on the door to enquire if I could have it. I was told the bin men wouldn’t take it and I was welcome to it. I then got some of its history. It was not very old and since it had had numerous service vists and new parts the supplier had deemed it uneconomical to go further and had replaced it. As I loaded into my car I was handed a box of spare parts containing a lower drum temperature sensor, thermal re-settable fuses and a boxed control assembly.
As for the NTC sensor this is tested at 0C, room temp, and 100C and resistance measurements taken. The device inside it is a GE type DK NTC thermstor. Now I agree I dont know the tolerances, but I’ll have at a guess and say its a part number DF503*5. The temperature /resistance readings at those three temperatures are close enough to the resistance tables for this device for a substitute to be bought from RS or FARNELL at the sum of 0.35p each and the comparisons to be re-run.

Oh I see now, even the service guys were scratching their heads and throwing parts at it in order to resolve the problem. The very same problem you have encountered I guess? And in the end it was binned, brilliant solution I’m sure.
Talking of solutions, pointing the finger of guilt at the NTC won’t solve the problem I don’t reckon. 😉

if you had have posted your last post 1st im sure you would have saved a lot of time in one uf us pointing you in the right direction
local recycling depot is that ➡ way. 😆March 28, 2009 at 2:26 pm #280121icanfixthat

The local tip has been re-branded as a “re-cycling centre” and as the machine is nearly new,and so theoretically should have worked, I’m not going to throw it away untill I have solved the problem. Its good to see its a difficult one since there are no suggestions of a “..what i would do or what I did was…” nature, so I’ll just keep going.
As for the NTC component, I was not pointing a finger at it, just eliminating it from the possible suspects, by making sure it worked and measured ok. I also have a substitute device for a “quick fix” of the original component for a cost of 35p rather than the £12. I am not reccomending it as a full time fix, just a-get-you-out-of-trouble-since-the-part-wasn’t-delivered repair

OK, Being as you never asked me or answered my postings I have been somewhat reluctant to comment but as I’m such a nice and modest guy I will volunteer the information just for you.8)
I’m pretty sure that the problem you seek is in the ‘dryer module’ in the fascia/control panel. They’re prone to damp and wetness getting into the board and causing all sorts of problems even if you haven’t selected a drying programme. Chances are that has never been investigated by anyone I should imagine?
All the best with that….. 😀

Ok I’ll have a look at that tomorrow and let you know I’ll wash it off in IPA and recoat it in an insulating laquer used on Military PCB’s. I had taken it off to remove it from the main machine body to determine if the switches were sending false signals during vibrations of the drum. but this did not have any affect on the “flashes”. so I di put it back. I admit I didn’t think about water ingress since there is a plastic film on the switch side and it did look intact. However its a piece of good information and thanks for being so modest.
