take the plug out.
To get to the pcb take the front off.
i would not fit a new one its too much to spend on a machine that age.
the wiring going to the pcb will restrict its removal it is best to take out the motor plug ang remove the wiring clamped onto the bottom of the concrete weight.
if removing wiring please note where they go.
once you get the box out far enough to see the board you should be able to remove the pcb from the box.
inspect it closely for burnt bits, dry soldered joints bad connections, check the wiring at the bottom of the board it can get rubbed through on the edge of the cabinet.
i would not fit a new board its too expensive for a machine that age, better to get a new oneJune 6, 2007 at 10:40 pm #214108Trilobite

I honestly would not bother with getting the machine repaired. Purchasing a new machine would make economic sense, as:
(a) The ‘New Wave’ spare parts are apparently becoming obsolete.
(b) Modern machines have a larger capacity.
(c) A new machine will have a full guarantee. (You might manage to get the old one fixed, but who’s to say another component might not fail?)
(d) After 15 years and all those ‘Spin Bursts’ and ‘Dynamic Spin-Rinses’, I would bet that the motor is on the way out.

Thanks for your help, we’ll have a look when we get time. What are these spin bursts and spin rinses?

By the way, what is the load capacity of this machine?

5kg

only 5kg, thought it would be something like 4.5kg. Will a 6kg capacity manage a thickish double sized fleece blanket, 2 pillows and summer tog single and double duvets, (not all at once obviously)?
Were these New Waves top of the range in their day?

go for the 7kg, the new wave was supposed to be top of the range but i personally disliked them.
all new hoover washing machines are the same quality from the cheapest to the most expensive. -
