Re: Hotpoint 5 Year parts warranty

Free parts? Of course they’re not free……. Pay the £90 and get free parts – sounds good to the public I suppose. Given the purchasing power and economies of scale generated by The Indesit Company, plus the years of inflated parts pricing by the majors and they’re really on a nice little earner. I’d lay money at good odds that there isn’t a single component in an Indesit Company product that cost mre than £40. We know that drive motors cost a tenner, boards the same or less. Pumps are 60p.

So, somebody explain to me how this can’t be a money spinner?

Engineers, vans, fuel, several visits for the same job, call centre staff, scrapped machines, swapped machines, warehousing, shipping, road transportation all paid for out of that………..and most of my customers saying about the £90 charge, “How much???!! But it’s only 15 months old! It only cost me twice that new!!”
It’s not only the cost, but the customer’s overall perception of the product that is at stake here. Yes, they’ll pay today to get out of a hole, but will think twice tomorrow.

Customer told me the other day she had been quoted £90 call out + £40 per 1/4 hour by girl at call center.. I asked her if she was sure of which she was adement thats what she had been told.. but still seems a bit steep to me..

Maybe H/point don’t want to mend their machines anymore???

Don’t know if anyone can conferm or deny this?
