he first problem was nowater being pumped in,then I pulled machine out,and it was fine…I thought maybe an inlet hose was pinched…….then I let it continue the cycle,at the end of the cycle it continues on for another cycle…..I hope I am making sense….so unless I switch it off, off she goes again…………any answers …pleeze

The baseplate of the machine is flooded!

UNPLUG THE MACHINE FIRST…then tip it backwards about 45 degrees to allow the water to drain off (have a mop handy) turn the power back on, then try it again…it should now work OK 😉

The cause is an internal leak that needs investigating by an expert. Click on link below for one 🙂

It worked …many thanks Martin……….on the point of it being an internal leak..what does that entail as far as repair…

It depends really as a number of internal components could be the source and an expert eye best to deal with it. Meanwhile use your dishwasher as normal and if the fault returns sooner rather than later, then get someone in to check it out. 🙂

As I mentioned in my previous post, it is an internal leak that needs sorting. It may not be so very costly to do so either BUT you need to speculate on its value based on a quote from a local engineer. Do please click link below for one in your area 😉

Many thanks Martin….sorry about raising a new topic ,…there is no one listed in my locality,I put my sons postcode in and he lives 2 minutes from me,and the one that was recommended is miles away which seems a bit odd…anyway I will have to do the obvious yellow pages..so what would be a fair price, Mr yellow pages could quote £100 and I would be none the wiser,this is the problem, thank you Martin for your advice,very much appreciated….

I’m sure you have little to fear from those listed in the Yellow Pages. After all you are one step ahead in as much as you know WHAT the problem is and you just need to know the worst case scenario and what it will cost BEFORE anyone calls!

(Often it just needs a damn good clean out and possible a new Pressure Chamber Unit….around £75 tops I would think?)

I am having so much trouble getting an engineer to call,so I am thinking we shall buy a new machine….have been looking at the FDW60 and the FDW80 …..any recommendations, I have been quite happy with the Hotpoint up until now…………….any other makes you can recommend….as far as my old machine goes..I now have to tip it back for every wash, after it finished it’s cycle last night,the inside had alot of water inside,after about 15minutes it had gone…did it disappear into the baseplate ?…..I would be grateful for any help, Many thanks

I think we’ve gone as far as we can on this as for fear of ‘chasing our tails’. Your machine needs expert attention and unless you live on some remote isle in the outer Hebrides, there are several companies that can sort it for you (including Hotpoint of course!)

The 2 machines you mention are dreadful Indesit made excuses for dishwashers (rebadged as Hotpoint) by the way…steer well clear in my opinion 😉

An engineer called today,said he had’nt realised it had Bosh workings..(hotpoint DF61)…too difficult to access………….in his opinion he said to scrap machine,he also said the time too locate the internal leak could take up to 4hrs,and he said a hotpoint engineer would charge for labour and parts approx £150 plus ..he said it would have to be a hotpoint engineer to repair it….any suggestions….he did add not to buy another Hotpoint as these are now made by Indesit…..he suggested a Zannussi,I thought these had the same reputation as Indesit………….anybody want to comment,I really don’t know what to do now……………

The last time I had this fault on one of these, I cured the leak, a small split in a connection from the water inlet matrix to the sump, small blob of Araldite, 30 minutes time in total.

I would ask for a second opinion.
