    Where is the worm pump

🙂 Should have been worn pump. I did say that if you have a standpipe then you didn’t need to try it over the sink, only if it was connected directly to your under sink plumbing.

It will add a small amount of water every time you restart it, that is few seconds that it fills through the cold rinse valve to lift the eco ball.

Lights 1 and 6 is not a recognised error code.

    Thanks.
Machine has just stopped for third time at the same stage described in previous posts .
I manually drained it a little, as I still have outlet hose into sink, and the cycle has continued on.

Would this suggest an intermittent pump failure? And how would I confirm.

Your earlier question “Does it have the pump filter on the front, either way does the pump impeller feel a bit loose with side to side movement?”
When you asked if the impeller felt loose side to side, did you mean in a circular motion?

I can turn the impeller with my fingers, but it is not a smooth turn, there is a point in the turn where there is a bit of resistence, which feels “rubbery” rather than hard or grating (if that makes any sense)

The pump should flick round in quarter turns. There should be virtually no side to side movement of the end of the pump impeller. TBH most pumps on an 8 to 10 year old washer dryer would be well worn by now. Changing the pump is the only sure way to eliminate it as the cause of the fault.

Thanks again, “flick round in quarter turns” would describe what I have observed I think. Will recheck. There is no lateral movement of the end of the impeller. By manually draining when it “froze” I was able to get the number 5 wash cycle to complete to the end. This following a first cycle which completed without any issues.
Is an intermittent pump failure more likely than a control board failure given the symptoms reported in your experience?

    Thanks. Regards

It’s a 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} Indesit made machine, for it to have reached the age it has is well above the average. The electronics are one of the many weak points on them. However given the huge cost difference and allowing for the fact that a drain pump on any washer dryer of this age is certain to be very tired I will leave it to you to decide on changing the pump or the pcb. 😉

    All points noted with thanks.
It is looking more like the pcb than the pump, as the wash cycle pump out completes without issues. The pump out after rinsing is failing. Once manually pumped, the cycle completes. Bit annoying as the machine is otherwise in good condition. Have the electronics improved over time or would a different brand be advisable?.

The pump is more likely to fail on the later stages as it gets warm and it also runs for much longer during spin and dryer operation.

No real improvement of electronics and I wouldn’t buy a washer dryer of any brand.

However I would risk trying a new pump if it was my machine, but then what do I know. 😉

If there are no blockages and the non return valve on the pump outlet (where fitted) is ok then it’s the pump motor or the wiring/electronics

To date I have not come across intermittent electronics in the EVO2 or Arcadia pump circuits. Have had many intermittent starting pump motors in all brands.

Pump motor is cheap so regardless of the outcome it’s worth trying one

I fitted a new pump yesterday. Two wash cycles and one dry then completed without issues.
I noticed the new pump felt a bit stiffer when rotating the rotor. Hopefully that will be it fixed.

Thanks for all the responses/comments received.
