Nearest manual I can find is a BF72, can you confirm this machine is a built in appliance?

Yep, it’s a built in dishwasher

I’m going from a long time ago but I seem to remember the reset function on the free standing Bosch based dishwasher was activated by pressing two buttons simultaneously. From memory there was a small dot under the two relevant buttons, look and see if there are similar markings on this machine. Also make sure that there is enough water in the tub to activate the main motor, usually at least an inch of water.

Just checked on the free standing models and the two buttons used for a reset are the Normal 65C wash and the Delicate 40C wash buttons.

I found a pic of the buttons but there are no dots underneath them. I did find this, does this sound familiar?

I would see if it has those two wash option buttons I mentioned first, if it has those buttons hold them in for a few seconds and it should reset. Are you getting F in the display?

We pulled it out, tipped it back 45 degrees and no water came out. Put it back and it did the same buzzing noise.

I managed to reset it it with the 65c and 55c button (there is no 40c button)

it kicked the drain pump in but then when running a normal cycle it filled about 1cm water then made buzzing noise again

im going to order a new one as the control panel is playing up too and the detergent dispenser hasn’t worked for years. When you press the short wash button the delay timer button is being activated

Given its age and the diffculties you will face trying to obtain any parts for it that may well be the best option.

Completely agree, it’s had a good innings :).

Replaced it with a Bosch Serie 6 which are apparently made in Germany. Looked at the Miele and at £1200 not even I would bother with one at that price!

Thanks all for your help, very much appreciated!
