Hi, I’m a bit of a ham fisted give it a go person and I have a moderate success rate but I’m having difficulty fixing my mums tumble dryer which is a few years old.

    Condenser dryer model

the heat element stopped the instant my mum changed it to low heat, always looking for a simple solution i replaced the complete element assembly – plug and play, thermostats were included.

but there is no heat at all

I’ll head back tonight after work and armed with a multimeter and basic knowledge I’ll see if the thermostats are open as I read they should be.

top and side panel already removed. Cycles running as they did minus heat. I’ve put damp clothing in but with no joy re heat

    Any help would be appreciated

    check the model

can find CDN7000BP which is a simple dryer with a mechanical timer

make sure you turn the timer on enough. the last 10 mins or so blow cold air so you have to set it above that

if that fails the heater get its power from the timer and the float switch in the pump. Is the empty water light on ?

all above is guessing i have model correct

Hi Dave thank you for the reply

    The model number is CDN7000P(UK)

You are spot on it has a mechanical timer, I did as you mentioned and ran it loaded on a long cycle cut no joy.

There is no empty water light as far as I know, I will check the level tonight and top it up.

    Thanks once again

Plus the sneaky stat located in the very top of the white plastic drum front support frame. Access very limited and a bit of a fiddle to change.
NB. The Empty water light should not be on, it is a warning that the water reservoir needs emptying, not topping up.

Dave & Iadom thank you very much

Iadom when you mention the stat located in the very top of the white plastic drum front support frame are you talking about the closed door switch? Does this also trigger the heater element? As mentioned the dryer runs as normal the only difference is zero heat

No, there is a small stat located in the top of the plastic surround, It is possible to replace from inside the door cavity but you need to loosen the wiring harness by cutting a couple of the cable ties to allow you to pull the stat down a couple of inches into the door cavity area. It doesn’t fail as often as the other stats but is more common than timer failure for instance. You can see the wires going down to this stat near the door switch wiring.
If you open the door and look up inside the door surround you will be able to see this small stat secured with two screws.

on some later machine front stat is no longer fitted so dont fret if its not there

If the stat is there the wiring is usually two black/white wires according to the TCM570/580 manual.

Brilliant help thanks, I have an intermittent float sensor illuminating the empty tank sign I take it this is what is shutting the element off

do you have any advice on fixing the float sensor?

have you checked for water. if the pump fails and does not pump water away float rises and does its job of cutting off the element

Thanks Dave, I haven’t checked the bottom tank for water, looking at it now I’m wondering do I need to remove the complete back panel to gain access

Removing the clear drain pipe the bottom tank looks empty
