    HI All

Firstly, Merry Christmas to one and all.

Secondly, I have the above machine. The Drum belt went about 2 months ago, so with the help of this forum (as usual) and Youtube, I replaced the belt and the front Felt Band.
Well, It went again about a week later, and I assumed it was a bum Belt, but the next lasted only a month, so I replaced the Belt and the Belt tensioner wheel.

Anyhow, its gone again, and I found some burnt clothing in it. I think the clothing got pinched at the front of the drum & stopped the drum from going round, and maybe just started to heat up.

Anyhow, I have bought another belt, just to get me through the Christmas period. The drum seems to spin ok, there is resistance, but not enough to make me think that the bearing has gone.
So I’m not too sure why the belt keeps braking, and I’m at the point of thinking that if I can keep it going until after Christmas, I’ll keep an eye on the sales.
I will keep an eye on the Tumble Dryer, and not leave it unattended.
So, I guess I have 2 questions, firstly, what might be the problem with the belts keep braking.
Secondly recommendations for a new Tumble dryer for £400 if poss, might be able to stretch to nearer £500 if I had to.

    Many thanks

    E

I would be checking front bearing pads and there is a tech bulletin for the position the belt needs to be on the motor I haven’t got access to tech but maybe dave has regards kai

have lost access to tech but from memory the belt needs to be positioned so it misses all the screws on the drum

    Thanks Gents

I’ll take a look when I fit the new belt.

The only thing i found strange is that the youtube clip I saw wanted me to fit the belt around the tensioner wheel in a wat that I could not do as the belt isnt long enough. It can only go around the tensioner the other way.

I’ll post a link to the YouTube clip if I’m allowed.

    Here’s the youtube clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snWjzoV6HjI&list=PLfA9ekH8Rl5NvXSF07QmzSbrCDy6rhoxk&index=2

If you head to the 8 minute mark it shows how the belt goes around the belt tensioner.
On the machine I have, the only way to get the belt on the tensioner, was to have it go round the tensioner wheel the other way, there just isnt enough slack on the belt to go the ay in the video.
I tried, and broke the first tensioner wheel, trying to get the belt on that way using a screwdriver as leverage.

Yes that is the same as the video, but there is no way to get the belt around the pulley that way.
I’ve been routing it around the back of the pulley as to get it going the other way, I either broke the pulley or almost put a crease in the drum with the tension needed.

The technique looks simple in the video, but there is not as much slack as he seems to have.

I’ll have to give it a go, as maybe that is my problem that the belt has to go on that way

you will never get it on that way. the belt he uses must be already used and therefore stretched

will try to explain how i do it

the front fan and cover need to be off to do this and you need a small socket set fot the bolts

you have an idler pulley with 2 bolts. undo the one nearest to you and take it out. loosen the other one just enough so you can unhook the pulley bracket and hinge it over towards the drum. now put your belt round and then use the leverage of the pulley to stretch the belt ond hook the pulley into place. slightly nip up the inner screw first so the bracket wont unhook. then line up the other hole and replace the screw. then tighten then both securely

    hope this helps

    Your a life saver.
The fan is already off, the pulley wheel tensioner you speak of, is the one I replaced after breaking it last time. 2 bolts & it sort of hooks on. When the fan arrives, I’ll have a go at that.

    Thanks ever so.
