ParticipantSomeone asked for these this morning for a 4 month old machine. I asked why don’t they get Hotpoint to do them under warranty. They replied that they had tried that but it seems these parts are not covered by the warranty. 😯

What? Drum paddles not covered? Why the hell not? I suppose next they’ll say the drum’s not covered ‘cos you put washing in it! Or maybe, the Start button ain’t guaranteed ‘cos you pressed it!
Ah no!….suddenly realised……….The Indesit company…………say no more……..plonkers.. :rolls:

TBH apart from the early Mk1 type lifters the only reason they come out is through misuse, as has already been stated, washing trainers or leaving coins in pockets.
Why should they be under warranty. ❓

They are integral components of the drum therefore should be ‘fit for purpose’ surely?
Now we all know that the 10 gauge s/s drum is as thin as Bacofoil and the paddles are simply clipped into place on those bacofoil drums using a bent tablock….fact. And therefore by definition alone the drum, no matter what is washed in it, even trainers, is categorically ‘not fit for purpose’ (not up for the job)….again…..fact!
“Why should they be under warranty?”…………..you ask?….have they got to you as well Jim……………..oh no! 😥

Fit for purpose is not leaving over £20 in coins in the pockets, its not for washing trainers, its a bloody clothes and laundry washer, end of.
If you went to fit a customer a new drum lifter and they still left coins in the drum or stick trainers in after being advised not to, would you go back a month later and fit another one FOC,……. I don’t think so. :rolls:July 20, 2010 at 5:44 pm #325772helo_75

Mine says ‘UK Size 10, Made in Vietnam’?! 🙂
It’s a bit hard to understand how they outright ‘Refuse’ to cover lifters under warranty though… Some will come off even without washing daps!
Anyway, who still washes trainers in a washing machine? Everyone knows top basket in dishwasher does a better job!

Participantnever used to happen when they rolled the drum with lifters and integral part, did it?
seemed a little silly to change it really
still, keeps us in a job!

Never seen ‘correctly fitted’ MK 2/3 lifters coming off without coins, keys or trainers etc bashing them off.
Even if the customer has removed the evidence beforehand the damage to the six lugs on the underside is obvious.

Haven’t a clue pal don’t own a pair…….why you asking me anyway?
I replaced a couple of paddles to a WF210P recently, elderly lady just washed a single sheet, paddle fell off, sheet got caught between drums, drum seized and belt fell off.
You only have to wash a couple of bath towels and see them slapping about against the paddles and find the lugs are getting loose all the while. Follow that with a few more light loads over the next few weeks and sure enough a paddle will fall off…………..not fit for purpose.
Mercifully a good many other manufacturers still at least screw their paddles in place. But it’s only a matter of time before they all follow Indesit’ lead in producing cheap, not fit for purpose rubbish.
And in case you were wondering, I don’t guarantee the drum paddles I replace either. Ironically a stance I hold in common with the Indesit company. 😈 😉

Yes, I always explain that they come off due to a design fault. Fortunately I didn’t design the heap of excrement so I also don’t guarantee such repairs.

Can’t believe that only Hotpoint owners wash trainers & leave coins in pockets ….. yet only see the problem on Hotpoints (very rarely a Zanussi).
IMO not fit for purpose … either by design or construction -
