    Dave, thanks for the advice, i will have a shot this week and let you know the out come. Its such a strange one!

    just wondering, could i test the capacitor to confirm using a multimeter?

    if the meter has a capacitance scale and if you take it off the board to test then yes

    You sir, are a genius! my replacement capacitor came today, so i soldered it on, and bingo the dishwasher appears to be working (still running its first cycle, but so far so good!
    I found the jubilee clips i used to refiit the pump are crap and are weeping a bit of water!

    will run a full program and test!
