ParticipantHi,
my dishwasher is fdw65a is displaying eco and prewash error lights flashing. I checked the filters – all ok. the water sounds like it is coming through, then it just gets pumped out within minutes to the drain.
Any ideas appreciated.August 27, 2006 at 1:14 pm #186687iadom

Perhaps you should change your username to Indesit hater, it would be more accurate. 😉
Counting from the left which neons are flashing. 1+ 3, 3 + 4, 4 + 6 etc.

I have a Hotpoint FDW65A Delicate light flashing during wash cycle, understand this is a heat problem, checked out heater elememnt 26 Ohms is there a thermostat on this model and where is it. if not heater what next PCB board? 🙁

Its a heater time out as opposed to a heater failure. No thermostats on these. The temperature sensor ( NTC ) is hard wired to the control PCB and does occasionally come adrift giving this error code.
It should sit behind a small clamp/clip on the inside of the stainless steel inner door.If it is hanging lose then it needs relocating, if it is in situ then it is more than likely that the PCB is faulty.
NB. I have deleted your other thread on this topic, please don’t post duplicates of the same question, it only leads to confusion. 😉
The PCB on these does not need programming BTW.

Thanks for your swift reply
I have seen sites that offer to repair the PCB is it worth going down this path, or bite the bullet and buy a new one?

Check to see if the NTC has come adrift first. 😉
From what I hear the success of repairs on what are rather poor quality PCB’s to start with have been variable to say the least. 🙁
Two different PCB’s used on these, full serial number needed to identify. Cost around £75 so it depends how much you are going to pay to get one repaired really.

NTC or thermistor if you like. 😉
The full serial number of the actual dishwasher is needed. 🙂

even though your heater may appear to have the correct resistance values, if it has excessive limescale build up inside of the heater then after 10-20 mins of heating the toc can cut out so the pcb detects the heater is open circuit so giving you the fault codes

Thanks for your input
I have put a DVM across the power input to the heater to measure the voltage, then started the machine at no time during the cycle does the any voltage appear at the input to the heater, which leads me back to the PCB, I have also learnt that there is a pressure switch between the heater element and the PCB, looking to check this out before condemning the PCB, but I do not have the pinout of the pressure switch, any info would be appreciated.

I have the same fault codes as this previous post, ie lights 3 & 5 (Eco and Pre-wash) with the filter not blocked.
I previously had fault code 4 & 6, tested and no continuity on heater element, heater replaced (checked new component and 26 Ohm’s as expected). At this point the filter was blocked, which I unblocked, I also check all the pipes down below and drain pipe for blockages, all clear prior to switching the machine back on post heater replacment (I didn’t check the internals of the pump or other components only the interconnecting rubber hoses).
The current state is the machine runs for about 20 seconds when switch off/on, it pumps out and appears to stall at the point of refilling for a wash cycle, with fault lights 3 and 5 flashing.
I haven’t checked the door thermostat yet, when checking for location is there a Ohms check voltage I can do on it to confirm it’s OK?
Any advice on what to look at next?

TBH what you have is a low end, Indesit made appliance, dodgy heaters, motors, electronics etc.
3+5 is supposed to signify blocked filters but can also be faulty pressure switch, main circulation motor, the direction of the wind etc. :rolls:
