If the condensor fan is faulty or there is a blockage of fluff at the grill at the front you should feel the appliance getting hot usually at the sides between fridge and freezer, if this is so the temp will fluctuate up and down. incidently the previous post stated that both fans run when the compressor is running, this is not exactly correct the condensor fan does but the evaporator fan only starts up when the evaporator is cold enough not to circulate moist air round the the fridge and freezer.

I have just looked again. The f/f was stopped i.e. condendor and fan not running. I opened the freezer door and blew on the thermistor. Instantly the condensor started but the main condensor fan didn’t ? I tried flicking the fan but it won’t start ..
The sides of the f/f are cool & the temp at the moment is constant (-22 & +3).
Anyone know whether this is likely to be a fan problem or something controlling it ? (suppose I could put my tester on the fan wires)
Thanks again,
Peter

PeterIts the fan or the wiring to it
The fan is controlled directly with the compressor and therefore if the compressor is working it can only be the wiring or the fan itself.

KeymasterTo support the P1 claim, I had this with this fridge.
I came home one night to see the temp rising, powered on and off, each time this code briefly flashed. The appliance eventualy restarted and all was well, my Wife said the fridge earlier had condensation, I assumed an open door.
Not offering any advice, just confirming the P1 code.
I vaccuumed the lower black pipes and the rear fan, how do you get to the freezer bits?June 26, 2005 at 9:06 pm #139133admin
KeymasterSorry, is a 72, still did P1 though!

Just a quick email to say thanks to all of you that contributed and helped diagnose the problem with my fridge freezer.
It was the condensor fan & with a new one fitted for a week or so now, it has been working fine 😀
Kind Regards,
Peter

Hi
Had exactly the same problem p1.
The freezer did freeze up a bit and some of the ice got in the works at the back
Engineer told me to empty the fridge and aswitch off for 48 hours.
did this, switched fridge back on and all is working fine now
Saved me getting a new fridge
