ParticipantThe fridge temp permanently reads +22C. Contents are not chilled. Was working very well holding +4C until a couple of days ago when the temp drifted up to +7, +8 and didn’t receover.
THe freezer is currently at -11C but has gone as low as -18C. Contents are frozen OK.

Hi
try to turn the appliance off for 24 hours and restarting,If the problem re occurs within 14 days then you have a defrost system fault.

Have you removed the grill below the freezer door and vacuumed out the condensor?

Just moved into vacant property. It’s probably been almost two weeks since the fridge was turned back on.
Left switched off overnight and started back up this morning. Definitely cold air coming out of vent top left inside the fridge behind the light.
Will vaccuum out the inlet and see how it goes.

Fridge was down at about 6C when I got home. But by the end of the evening it had crept up to 9C. There is little or no air coming out of the vent in the fridge. Sometimes the fridge fan doesn’t cut in and needs a few activations of the door light switch to get it running. Even then there is very little air flow.
Is this the famous thermisters ?

It certainly sounds like it, either that or the door has dropped and it’s missing the switch 😉

Definitely not the door. It makes no difference if I activate the switch by hand or by closing the door.
Remind me what the thermisters operate. The fan, the baffle, ?…

I did read all of that, but couldn’t find a bit that actually says what the thermisters do.
Have ordered the two replacements anyway…July 28, 2006 at 2:01 pm #183249Dave_Conway

Essentially they are electronic thermostats that feed information to the control PCB which in turn makes “decisions” on whether the fan/compressor/damper should be running or open etc.
They’ll go today for you so you may get a working fridge over the weekend if RM get them to you tomorrow 🙂

I have a hotpoint mistral apprx 6yrs old, when i seem to fill the freezer up and put it under load to Fast freeze, everything seems to stop, fans etc etc and it stop freezing. the display shows no error apart from a flashing thermometer when the temp drops to far.
I have taken the back and front off hoover’s out dust and spider’s
I noticed that the fan at the bottom of the unit was not turning.
it seemed to come back after a while but i just filled it up with frozen goods, and it has done the same again. Any help would be gratefully received.
