Ive noticed on quite a few of the Hotpoint CTD & VTD types, that as it stops to gomin to reverse tumble, that the drum hasnt completely stopped turning before the motor has been switched to turn in the other direction, hence allowing motor pulley to freely spin on the belt…and this is when drum is unloaded!

Thanks for the information.

K.I don’t know how many of these jockey wheels I’ve changed for one reason or another but the customer doesn’t mention it being noisy but I agree with your point if the load is too heavy for whatever reason it is likely to slip at the pulley. When these wear I find the belt shreds before it breaks.

Do to the use this machine gets and the lifespan of these pulleys I think I will replace it anyway.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

In reply to that last point, if the drum spins freely during reverse then the belt is unbelievably slack and would wear through in no time. Never, ever seen a belt so loose that the motor will spin freely. ❓

It is mostly related to poor tension on a worn belt, but i have fitted a few genuine belts, and still seems to happen…seems to be more of a timing issue with the reversing
